Best size tire to fit 18×8.5?

Hey guys

I have a LR and have some te37 rims coming from Japan, 2 of the rims are 18x8.5 I really want pilot sports 4s tires but where I live I can't get size 235/40/r18 in them, what's the next best size I should go?

Thanks

@Spice_1 Go with either 245/45R18 or 235/45R18. I prefer 245 for 8.5" wide wheels, I'm running 245/45R18 on 18x8.5" wheels right now on my 2021 M3P. Stock Model 3 18" size is 235/45R18 on 18x8.5" though and that's fine too.

Basically going 245 instead of 235 gives you a bit of extra width and sidewall and diameter, all good things for this car in my opinion. It still fits perfect and is a recommended size for 8.5" wheel width. Just for reference, my other Tesla came with 245 on 8.5" wide wheels, and so did my last ICE car.

@The Other Dan 245/40R18 or 235/40R18 would be very small diameter for a Model 3, don't go that small unless you have some very specific need/reason to.

Isn’t 235/35/18 a REALLY small outer diameter? I could only find one tire in that size and it has a 24.4” outer diameter. Stock for 18s is something like 26.3”.

Did you mean some other size? 235/35/18 sounds like a bad idea. 2” smaller diameter would really change a lot for the car.
@mpgxsvcd Yes typo, sorry! Thanks for catching that. I'll ask a mod to fix it if possible.

@Spice_1 I meant "245/45R18 or 235/45R18" (for 18x8.5" wheels on a Model 3).

Would you recommend 235/50R18 for someone who wants more meat on the tire for a better ride on the M3LR?

Edit: Found in another thread they won't fit, I'll stick with 245/45R18

What 18" wheels you have on your M3P?
