Meat is The problem
To Understand the Wuhan Coronavirus, Look to the Epidemic Triangle Opinion | To Understand the Wuhan Coronavirus, Look to the Epidemic Triangle

In one classic example of this phenomenon, we have an environmental shift to thank for the emergence of the global flu pandemic. In the mid-16th century, ducks were introduced to Chinese rice paddies to feed on the insects that were destroying crops. That meant ducks joined another common feature of Chinese farms: pigs. The duck’s unique biology makes it a generous reservoir for a vast number of viruses, while pigs are uncannily efficient at mixing different viruses together into new strains and passing them to humans. Breeding these two animals in proximity quickly led to the combination and transmission of new viral strains. Novel and highly virulent pathogens — hybrid pig-duck influenza strains — then crossed the species barrier and have been tormenting humanity ever since.

The bags that people bring in are a significant source of contamination. It is important to thoroughly clean any reused bag. No easy answer, but single use bags must be avoided unless truly recyclable.
Wash your hands

Many in China Wear Them, but Do Masks Block Coronavirus? Many in China Wear Them, but Do Masks Block Coronavirus?

But washing hands — frequently and before eating — is universally recommended. Hand sanitizer is effective against respiratory viruses. Experts also recommend washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, rubbing the hands together and ensuring all parts of the hands — the palms as well as the back of the hands — are washed.

“It’s also important to keep your hands away from your face,” said Dr. Vaishampayan. “Respiratory viruses don’t infect through your skin, they infect through your mucous membranes: the eyes, nose and mouth.”

Here's What Meat-Eaters Really Think of Veganism, According to a New Study

It seems that practical matters of taste, price, and convenience are the main barriers preventing more people from adopting veganism – not disagreement with the fundamental idea.
This could have major implications for the future of the food industry as meat alternatives become tastier, cheaper and more widely available.

Not surprising, few people actually like the idea of killing animals and simply compartmentalize that part of their meat consumption.

So this is insane, there are a number of lawsuits popping up all over against BYND which seem to relate to a two day price drop from $124 to $117. To me this looks like a short funded attack similar to what Tesla has seen in the past, with some of the same law firms, Bernstein, Pomerantz, etc. Example:
On January 27, 2020, post-market, Don Lee Farms issued a press release entitled "Judge Rules Don Lee Farms Likely to Obtain a Judgment. Beyond Meat's CFO and Others Named Individually for Fraud." The press release stated, in part, that "[a] judge has ruled Don Lee Farms proved the probable validity of its claim that Beyond Meat breached its manufacturing agreement with Don Lee Farms" and that "n a separate motion before a different Judge, the Court granted Don Lee Farms' request to name Beyond Meat Chief Financial Officer Mark Nelson, Senior Quality Assurance Manager Jessica Quetsch and Director of Operations Anthony Miller in its fraud claims which allege they intentionally doctored and omitted material information from a food safety consultant's report, and then delivered that doctored report to Don Lee Farms and affirmatively represented that it was the complete opinion of the consultant." On this news, Beyond Meat's stock price fell sharply during intraday trading on January 28, 2020.
Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC Announces Investigation of Beyond Meat, Inc. (BYND)

My take is the animal meat industry is running scared and funding this attack. I've seen this play before with Tesla.

EU urged to adopt meat tax to tackle climate emergency

EU urged to adopt meat tax to tackle climate emergency

A “sustainability charge” on meat to cover its environmental damage could raise billions to help farmers and consumers produce and eat better food, according to a report.

The levy, which would increase the price of a steak by about 25%, would be phased in over the next decade. The report focuses on EU countries and was produced for the Tapp Coalition of health, environment and animal welfare organisations. It says “fair pricing” for meat should be included in the forthcoming European “green new deal” and so-called farm to fork strategy.

Jeroom Remmers, a Tapp Coalition director, said: “Europeans eat roughly 50% more meat than is recommended in dietary health guidelines. [So] we could also save billions of euros every year in lower healthcare costs.”

Thought this might interest those who were concerned about the lack of whole food ingredients in BYND-style meat alternatives. Made from mycelium!

Hey get that chocolate and coffee off there!
;)

(At least bananas are low.)
I don't think I could ever give up coffee and chocolate.
However, I think the high rating is due to the fact that they measured CO2 per kg. You don't normally eat many kg of coffee or chocolate so it shouldn't be a problem. The chart would probably have been better if it was CO2 per serving or CO2 per 100 calories.

Also, there is a fair amount of inedible material within the fruit of the cacao tree. Don't know if this chart factors this fact into their calculations.

EU spending tens of millions of euros a year to promote meat eating

The EU has been accused of an “indefensible” approach to human health and the climate crisis in spending tens of millions of euros each year on campaigns to reverse the decline in meat eating and trying to rebut so-called “fake news” on the mistreatment of animals bred for food.

The livestock sector is responsible for about 14.5% of total human-derived greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists have provided evidence of a link between cancer and diets involving pork, beef and lamb products.

Fracking accounts for 68%. In Texas (where the worst is) oil and gas companies dump raw methane into the atmosphere, in some cases within a few miles of schools. It's a real heath and greenhouse gas problem. (Not that meat isn't a big heath issue too.)
