You might check your rear license plate bracket. I just got my permanent plates and found one of the imbeds was loose. A little clear Gorilla glue fixed it. It did look a lot like that.
Good luck.
It looks a lot like some type of insert that's meant to have another screw put into it. I would think the finger tightening groves must mean a human puts it on in the factory without tools OR that it's something that Tesla expects the owner/maintenance to have to mess with occasionally. I'm stumped.
That's definitely the inverse polarity coupler. It prevents excess current from overheating the permanent magnet synchronous reluctance motor found in the Model 3.
Hey guys...this is really being analyzed to death! It is simply the plug from the oil pan. Jiffy Lube just is not the best place to go for oil changes.
IMHO it's the setpoint lock-nut for the Flux Capacitor.
Don't go barreling into any structures that the AP
can't avoid or you might end up in the wrong century,
with no place to charge up. Might even scratch the car.
Checked the license plate bracket. It's not from there. There is a large hole on one side as the picture shows. The other end has a small hole. It is threaded inside and out. It almost looks like a bicycle tire adapter Schrader to Presta or similar. ......Or it is a flux adapter.
