Changing down payment

Down payment in the loan application is selected as a percentage, but I was bone-headed and forgot that I had already put down when reserving and ordering the car, so the down payment is calculated as the amount of the car minus $3,500 times the percentage selected. As a result, the down payment they calculated is less than what I want to pay.

Has anyone needed to change their down payment through their account page? Do I need to submit a whole new loan application?

I changed mine last night. Log into your account and then manage your car, then call the Tesla phone number on the right. Make sure to do it as soon as possible as they’ll need time to update and send you the contract for e-signature again. It was pretty quick for me, but they said it could’ve delayed the delivery process if I didn’t give them a heads up.

The guy that answered the phone didn’t have great info. He connected me to the delivery center in MDR and they were very helpful. Make sure you ask for that if your scheduled for delivery soon.

This morning I had called the number listed underneath the loan details ("Please call (877) 778-3752 or email [email protected] if you have any questions.") and that person was rather short with me saying that the number I called was for vehicle owners only and transferred me to a finance line that was unmanned (went to VM).

When I called the number you reference, @Dugknight, the guy that answered directed me to my ISA and gave me her contact information.

I haven't heard back from her, but I had also sent an email to [email protected] and that person is helping me work with my regional credit specialist. Turns out they had sent financing emails to the secondary contact, my wife. Weird because they also thought my wife's phone number was the primary earlier when I called to ask who my ISA was.

Seems like they set up a prescribed path for people to follow, but the process when that breaks down is not ironed out well.

Oh no! Good luck, hopefully they’ll get it sorted out soon.
