Hi,

I thought I'd start a new thread to keep track of where hotel and other available HWPC/SCs are, any issues, and general feedback about the properties. I'm sure these will appear in PlugShare and via Tesla Navigation also, so any further discussion on location is welcome here. If you are aware of any not listed here, please post their details using the structure below. I will try to keep the list in this post up-to-date.

ACT - Canberra
  • Hotel Realm / Hotel Burbury: http://hotelrealm.com.au +61-2-6163-1800
    • 2 x HPWCs @ 240v40A for hotel guests. Confirmed working 2014-01-13.
    • Nice boutique hotel for both casual, long-term, and biz travellers. Good rates, great breakfast. Plenty of places to eat at near by.
VIC - Chadstone

  • Westfield Chadstone: Located at Myer Lower Level carpark
    • 5 x HPWCs @ 240v40A available 24/7 (need to confirm). Confirmed working by Tesla.
    • Lots to do during center opening hours - food, shopping, movies.

Indeed, it is called the Myer Lower Level Carpark. x5 HPWC, heavily branded (and painted) hard to miss.
I don't think that carpark closes as night, should be able to access it 24/7 but I am not sure. Located at Chadstone, so tons of things to do while waiting as long as you are there during centre hours.

I seriously think they should advertise: convenient charging at Chadstone as one of the selling points for the Model S in Melbourne. Imagine Christmas sales and having a guaranteed spot :D

This is why I love the Star SCs. Yesterday we recharged there after our Gosford trip. 45 minutes and $51 for three people for lunch and a free tank of 'fuel'.

Shall I list the SCs as well? I think that makes sense as we can discuss their amenities here.

In case this info is relevant, a brief mention here:

Tesla Motors Inc To Build 16 New Supercharger Stations In Australia
Heath Walker, a Tesla spokesman, told the Sydney Morning Herald: “We're taking a two-pronged attack in Australia: our supercharger network and also new hotel partnerships where we're putting high powered wall units in different hotels – both single and three phase.” He said a Marriot hotel in Melbourne and The Darling hotel in Sydney had already been set up as part of the partnership with hotels.

I am looking to stay at the Star City Casino in a couple of months time. You can stay at the Darling or the Astral Tower as part of the Casino. The Astral Tower being cheaper.

I rang reception at the Astral Tower, but had little idea (actually no idea) of the Tesla chargers. She spoke with the Darling Hotel and they said you could park for a couple of hours on the charger, and then move the car into the car park.

Does anyone have some experience with the chargers at the hotel, and can we stay at the Astral Tower and use the charger. Coming from Canberra we would need an overnight charge to get home unless we stop by St Leonards for the SC.

Thanks.

They're much faster than the St. Leonard's ones in my experience.

That is what he is referring to I believe. There are four chargers there spread over about 6 car spaces. I've been there plenty of times but never seen anyone else there - so parking overnight may not be a big deal (but best to leave your contact number on the dash)

Thanks Danielp.

I don't have any experience with what is at the Casino. I should have looked when I was there for the launch last year!

So are there 4 super chargers at the Casino carpark not HPWC? The receptionist at Austral said the Darling recommended you could park for a couple of hours to charge and then a valet could park your car for $45. No way a valet is getting in my car or for that matter driving it!

It sounds like they may not be in a secure place for charging, so you would charge and then move your car under the Hotel?

They are under the hotel in their car park. They are as secure as the rest of the car park. If you went down and moved your car when it finished charging to an adjacent regular spot, I don't think they would notice. All yo do on arrival is press the gate button and say Tesla to charge, and they open the boom gate. No ticket. Then when ready to leave, again at the exit boom gate press the button and say Tesla finished charging, and. Just leave. If you stayed overnight, frankly, I don't think they would notice or care.

Matt Peterson has indicated that Petersons winery in the Hunter valley is about to install two free HPWC's. I am not sure whether they are up and running yet, but they soon should be.
