Cracked Rim...

I was driving through the wonderful streets of Washington DC earlier this week and I caught a curb and it cracked my 18" rim... It's holding air for now and I already talked to a private wheel repair guy who said it would cost roughly $250 to repair, but I am curious if I should just wait to have Tesla look at it or just go with a private repair company?

I just saw on another thread someone said stock aero rims are only $200. I'd go with that if I can find out where. Hopefully they respond...

I would prefer, but the rims I saw online were $400 a piece...

I think that the rim is repairable, but I bet the sidewall on that tire is shot, unless you got super lucky and the curb just missed the tire.

I think the sidewall is ok. The guy I had look at the rim thought so as well.

Check craigslist. I saw people selling them for $150 each but the catch is that they require purchase of all 4.

That's one hell of a curb rash. I can't really give you a hard time since I've curbed 2 wheels so far.

There are websites selling the 18" and 19" rims. I looked at pricing a 19" for a spare and the rim was 250-275 if I remember correctly. It wasn't too bad.

I do. Rim ringz aren't just some stick on.

Here are mine.

They are pretty good. They might not have totally saved the rim, however there would be less damage. That's for sure.

Standard wheel repair price is typically 150. You will hardly notice any differences after the repair but they may not have a spare for you ...
