Current Delivery Problem at Mount Kisco, NY

Question on new Y delivery problem:
Ordered my Model Y 1/13/23 and received my RN# and they show pickup at Mount Kisco, NY, 350 miles away from me in Rochester, NY.
No way can I get to Mount Kisco for pickup. I may have gotten a text with contact info for a Tesla Advisor. however if true that test is gone for some reason. Send emails to Mount Kisco with no reply. Tried calling always busy and was on hold for 1 1/2 hrs. Logged into their website and that is no help.

With the current rush for cars has Tesla given up on Carrier Direct transporting, understandable true?

Any way to get contact info for my Tesla Advisor?
Thanks in advance.
Stew

You will get a call from someone there eventually, before delivery. Even at the busiest time of the year in September, I got a call a few days prior to delivery to verify all of my info so that it went smoothly. At that point I would ask about Carrier Direct. But yeah, there's no getting through to anyone there unless they call you first. Wish I had better news...

Otherwise, I don't think you really have any other options. There's nothing closer to Rochester for a delivery center, as far as I know. (If you go outside of NY you lose the $500 Drive Clean rebate.. and it may be harder to register the vehicle in-house)

If I were retired, I'd give you a ride down!

They will text you, at least they did for me, prior to delivery. Then ask to see if you can have it delivered to you (for a fee). I decided to pick up mine in person but it does take up a whole day and I am an hour closer than you. What I did was rented a car for one way and dropped it off nearby the decider center and drove my car home.

Go to the closest showroom and tell them to have it shipped to you. How far is the closest showroom? Did you try the Tesla chat feature on their website since you are not able to get in contact with them via phone?

I'm in Rochester and have picked up two Model Ys from Kisco, the second after our first was totaled. We were told there is no way to have the vehicle shipped to us, you have to pick it up there. Both times we rented vehicles at the airport and did one way rental, driving the 5.5 hours down and even longer back with charging stops. It's a pretty horrible slog and IMO, is well outside of reasonable. You would think Tesla would be particularly accommodating to people making such a trek, but you would be wrong.

Regarding getting help from people there, your ONLY lifeline to a human is the text you get giving you updates and even then, they only communicate via text. There is no other number to call, and Tesla support will happily give you a variety of dummy numbers that go nowhere. We recently ordered and tried to pick up a M3P end of December and it was an absolute nightmare. Tried to ease the burden a bit by driving down the night before and staying in a hotel and Tesla delayed the delivery as soon as we arrived, stating the car wasn't on the truck. They did the same thing two more times and at no point would anyone call us. After 3 nights in a hotel we ultimately went home empty handed, having lost over a thousand dollars on the hotel and rental. Manager called us 4 hours after our pickup window and offered to refund us our order fee, which never happened. They didn't even cancel the order as we requested, lying about that as well and trying to get us to take delivery again 3 weeks later. Tesla may make the best vehicles, but they are the absolute worst car company to deal with.

TLDR: 1) Yes, it sucks
2) Rent a one way vehicle from the airport
3) Don't go the night before, Tesla gives zero Fs about you driving across the state

I heard from the Delivery specialist and I am one hour past you in Buffalo. They offered a $750 delivery from Mount Kisco. I looked into bus and train. There are no easy ways to get there. I also looked into one way rental and it was an additional $220 fee for dropping it off in Mt Kisco from enterprise on top of the daily rate. I am scheduled for February 11th to take delivery and haven’t nailed down how I want to proceed. I did the drive for my model 3 and it was a long drive. Back then they paid for a rental car for you. I asked if they would this time and they indicated “not at this time.” I wonder what they may do for people to take delivery at the end of the quarter.

We are on our 3rd Tesla and unfortunately you have to go to Mt. Kisco for delivery. If you are lucky enough you may be in the mileage window for home delivery. But you are buying a car sight unseen and god forbid something happens to it from Mt. Kisco to you, it’s your responsibility. Atleast that’s what I was told.
We did ALOT of research back in ‘21 before we bought our M3LR. We had no problem driving down there to pick it up. Once we knew where we were going, it’s not that bad of a drive and it’s all highway.
We’ve looked into busses and trains for part of the way and it’s not an option.
Good Luck in whatever happens for you.

We are going down on 2/7 at 12pm if you need a ride!

Rochester has a showroom. I've not heard of people being able to take deliveries from them, though.
Went to the Rochester showroom a week ago and they said can not help he so call Mount Kisco. Simply another dead end!!! Correct no deliveries there.

I know, I read your post. And I’m 239 miles away from Mt. Kisco 🤷🏻‍♀️
We knew from the get-go we had to go to Mt. Kisco for all deliveries.
I’m also 109 miles from the Henrietta Service Center.
Just facts that we researched before buying a Tesla.

I would say @Stew3105 you're lucky to live in a city with a service center. You're less lucky to live so far from Mt. Kisco, but you'll only have to do that drive once to pick up the car. You're going to need to get your car serviced more than you're going to need to get it delivered :), so look at the bright side.

I'm in the middle of both places, and service-center appointments really suck because 2.5hrs each way is very inconvenient. And my Teslas have had tons of problems that warrant it.

A couple of comments.
  • You can take Amtrak from Buffalo, Rochester, Utica, Albany, etc. down to Croton-Harmon, then an Uber or Lyft to Mt. Kisco. Cheaper than driving a rental down and spending the night in a motel.
  • The real problem here is that NY law prohibits direct manufacturer-to-consumer auto sales, except that 5 Tesla sales centers, all downstate, are grandfathered. Thanks to a really strong auto dealer lobbying presence. :( If we got this repealed, maybe we could have sales centers in Buffalo, Syracuse, and who knows where else?

Thank you for the information on the train. Seriously considering this as an option.

You can also take Amtrak to Penn Station in NYC, then take a cab or subway to Grand Central Station. Catch the Metro North commuter railroad (the Harlem Line - not as bad as it sounds) to Mt Kisco. From Grand Central to Mt Kisco is about 30-40 minutes, depending on if you take a local or express train. It's a 5 minute cab ride to the Tesla dealer. Maybe not what you would prefer to do, but is is an option.

I am close (less than an hr) from Mt Kisco. If this helps - Amtrack/LIRR trains come to Stamford (even express trains stop at Stamford typically) - and Uber ride from there to Mt Kisko center may be about 25-30m and costs around 35-50$. At least you have an option there. There are car rental places (have quite a few actually) very close to Mt Kisco center (iirc Green Lane, or Green Rd something has a few big ones). So car rental drop off/pick up may be an option. Most businesses close by 5ish so plan accordingly if you had to drop off or pick up. Uber was quite ok few times that I took it to Mt Kisko center (easier availability, reasonable cost). Hope this helps anyone.

It’s plain shxxx Tesla can’t make better arrangements. Disappointed to even know about it.

Very good info. It’s disgusting if that is the case - for customer inconvenience. Why does it take that long for law bodies to see the issue in here?
