So after we setup the Dashcam and was 'lucky' enough to witness and capture this accident, we were discussing the benefits of the Dashcam and the Model 3's other cameras-- 8 outside, 1 inside.
We LOVE our Ring and it really does make a difference in our home monitoring and telling UPS to put the boxes on the side of the house among other things. It certainly should lower insurance rates IMHO if they allow access to the other cameras (including interior!). Enabling Ring like real time motion detection also would make some interesting revenue stream potential for Tesla--put those cameras to work beyond autopilot! We'd be a subscriber.
Anyways, this is what we use to setup our system eventually after some trial and error and wanted to pass it along:
USB Splitter: works nicely for our needs; easy and robust to use in any situation.
Wireless Chargers x2: from prior setup -- added to splitter without issue.
Drive:
Initially we used an old USB but kept corrupting the files due to slow write speeds is what we surmised
So we pulled an old SSD card from notebook and got a USB-SATA Cable.
EaseUS partition : FAT32 partitioning is not easy on Win10 machines. This one did the trick. Created Two partitions: Primary Partition 32GB with TeslaCam folder; secondary partition FAT32 with all the music files.
Setup Works like a charm now. No errors, downloads fine and no 'x' dashcam for the past week while we get music and phones charge nicely wirelessly.
Drive on! Patiently waiting for Mad Max beta....
