Day 1 accessories?

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
these are the accessories i've accumulated so far (all this waiting makes it easy to keep on buying stuff)

1 - frunk matt
2 - wheel center cap + lug caps (going to remove the ugly ass aero covers) ... efficiency be dammed.
3 - flat repair kit (tesla)
4 - screen protector
5 - center console tray
6 - tray bottom liners

i might still pick up a few other things, like a center console wrap -- but i'm pretty satisfied fornow.

Things I would recommend are:

<snip>
  • Lower force extension spring for the frunk latch, so you can close the frunk one-handed without flexing the hood. I used one with a 1.4mm wire/15mm outer diameter/55mm length ($2)
<snip>
A question about that spring... will you still be able to open the frunk if there is anything weighing down the lid? Like snow or ice, for example. I haven't got my model 3 yet, so I have no first hand experience with the latch mechanism. Sounds like a great idea if this is not a real problem!

I don't believe it will affect opening the frunk, but I did the spring replacement after the last time there was a lot of snow/ice on the ground. This is where I got the spring from: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-4mm-Wire-Diameter-Expansion-Springs-Tension-Spring-Extension-OD-7mm-16mm/163115417648

Great find! It's going in my cart!

Much of what I have has already been posted: Maxpider floor mats (PartCatalog.com), wireless charging pad/hub/spacer (Jeda), console tray, rubber console/cupholder mats, screen protecter and satin black console wrap (Abstract Ocean), frunk, trunk and mini trunk mats (Amazon), a Nema 14-50 adapter for home charging (Tesla)....

As well as a few additional items that I haven't seen posted:

Tesla emblem Letters (Abstract Ocean) - yep, I'm taking off the "T":
Tesla Performance Emblem (2nd Gen)

Tesla pillows for charging sessions:
"Tesla White Logo" Throw Pillow by robertdyer | Redbubble

Me too. Did you get the spacer?

The hub is backordered for a few weeks, so I placed two separate orders as they don't ship until order is complete. I wanted the charging mat ASAP.

its a race between tesla and jeda to see who can deliver the goods first. (i orderd my model 3 on 9/16)

the spacer was free -- so i got it .. buti dont think i'm going to need it .. all my phones charge wirelessly.

Some additions below that I’ve added and found helpful or just comforting to have:

1. Abstract Ocean replacement puddle, glovebox, and trunk lights: www.abstractocean.com. Note: they used to sell a set of 7 that was perfect to replace the two trunk lights, four puddle lights, and glovebox light all of which are identical. I think now you just have to buy 7 bulbs. Footwell bulbs are different but I didn’t deem than necessary to replace.
2. Tire plug kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G252DCC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This one includes a glove, pliers, and is pretty heavy duty for $25.
3. Tire tread depth gauge: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F5N55B0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Really the best way to determine if/when you should rotate and even replace your tires.
4. Tire inflator: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H39S9JQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This is pretty heavy-duty, accurate, and flexible. It will connect to 120v sources with an optional adapter or to the entire line of Dewalt 20v batteries, or with included adapter to your vehicle 12v outlets. The 20v batteries are not included but available. I already had several from other tools so only needed the inflator. One fully-charged 3-amp 20v battery inflated 16 mounted tires and 3 unmounted spares using one bar (of three) of the charge.
5. Vehicle cleaning:
6. Torque wrench for tire rotations: no link as I already had one. Whatever you get, ensure it is calibrated periodically and if ever dropped, and can measure the relatively high torque of 129ft-lb. Lots of comments in the fora about this topic and possible selections.
7. Dog protection: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072DTRKB...colid=3LIKHRUV2B1ZF&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1. Many others available too.
8. Car lift: https://www.costco.com/quickjack-5,000-lb-capacity-portable-car-lift.product.100460313.html. Yeah, I want this but haven’t convinced the family CFO of the need.
9. SSD for DashCam, Sentry, and tons of music: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q41P7B7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi All, what about
Tesla Charger Adapter SAE J1772 Model 3 X S
? the converter to charge on other charging stations in case you cant make it supcharger.

I was just about to post similar.

You do know the car comes with an adapter? Even so, I am considering getting another one. We have a Clipper Creek EVSE (J1772), so the adapter will be needed. When out and about, there are many places that we frequent that have free EV charging. We could just keep the adapter in the car, but it would be a lot easier if we could keep it permanently attached to the Clipper Creek.

From Mobile Connector

"The Mobile Connector is included as standard equipment with a new Tesla. It’s a compact bundle that can charge your car from different outlets at medium to low speeds. We recommend installing a Wall Connector at home and leaving the Tesla Mobile Connector in the trunk of the car as a backup option while traveling.

This bundle includes:

  • Mobile Connector (20 feet)
  • Adapter for standard 120 volt household outlets (NEMA 5-15)
  • Cable organizing bag
  • Adapter for public charging stations (SAE J1772)"
Note - I don't think the NEMA 5-15 is included anymore.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen more posts mentioning the home Wall Connector as a day 1 accessory. I'm planning on putting in the Tesla Wall Connector with a 100 amp circuit because in rural Iowa there are definitely no Superchargers. It also seems that a set of snow tires or at least a set of chains may be a prudent investment. Although I was thinking they might not be needed with AWD.

100A should future proof your connection, you can charge 2 cars at full level 2 rate on that circuit.

I'm going to try to charge only at work, and skip the home charger. -- my workplace offers free charging
