Delivery cancellations - anyone else?

I too was supposed to take delivery at Owings Mills on 8/18. At least you got a call from Owings Mills. I logged into my account late Friday and noticed my appointment and VIN disappeared. I couldn't get through to Owings Mills nor did they call me. I was able to reach my delivery advisor Saturday afternoon who said the truck got a flat tire and the cars may be damaged. I am rescheduled for 8/23 and my account now shows my VIN again, but I'm not confident I will actually get the car. There is an incredible lack of communication...

VIN 659XX

Our cars must have been on the same truck. I just checked and my VIN is still not showing on my account page. Having read all of these other stories, I'm skeptical I'll get the car on 8/27.

Two cancellations at Costa Mesa. AWD non-P, White, Aeros, EAP.

08/10 - Loan funded, MVPA signed.
08/12 - Original delivery date. Cancelled after arriving to pick it up - car was not charged and had not been inspected/detailed
08/14 - Second delivery date. Cancelled after car needed additional inspection ordered by Fremont. Don't know what that means. Said I would be contacted within 48 hours. Emailed sales advisor the next morning to ask for more information.
No new date provided, no response from Tesla yet. VIN removed from my account, so I think the car did not pass whatever inspection was ordered.

@Highcastle did you receive any update for the Costa Mesa Delivery?

My Performance 3 delivery was canceled 30 minutes before scheduled last Friday because "one of the windows had a crack and it wouldn't be safe to drive." Days earlier, I was told it has been at the service center for three days. That was three days ago and I haven't heard anything since. I just reached out to the service department about an hour ago for an update.

If they offer you a new Vin, I would recommend taking it. I had same issue. They offered new Vin. I didn’t immediately accept and tried other angles. Now new Vin is off the table and I’m stuck waiting indefinitely until new glass roof arrives. The wait is painful.

With all the horror stories being passed around on this forum, thought I would share my, very different, experience.

Configured 7/26 (never put a reservation in - didn’t even know I wanted one of these until July). About a week later got an e-mail from my contact at Tesla asking me to verify my financing and trade in information, and told me I had three business days to respond or delay delivery.

About five days later, after no trade in information back, and not a single response after multiple emails to my contact, I called the main Tesla line. This would be the end of any delays or issues with the process.

After about a 20 minute wait, got a very helpful person on the phone, said he would e-mail management about my account. A little bit later that day got an email from a brand new contact at Tesla with my VIN. She responded to every e-mail immediately, and called me the next day to give me a trade in offer, and schedule a delivery date - August 20th (even though my car was landing at the center on the 14th, they wanted time to make sure everything was correct).

Got my insurance information, called the delivery specialist at the Paramus, NJ location, who also responded to everything immediately, and then showed up today for delivery. The team at Paramus was great - no one rushed us at all, and we were there for about an hour with them showing us everything on the car. There were some minor scratches on the front bumper, and there are some imperfections on the steering wheel, but nothing that was near glaring enough to have me refuse delivery or ruin my experience of taking this car. First hiccup aside, everything was exactly the level of service I’d expect when taking a delivery of a car of this caliber.

Hope the rest of you have as positive of an experience as I had getting this car. Wasn’t a long wait for me, but was absolutely worth it.

It’s so weird how inconsistent Tesla is. Even my own IDA was responding to emails within an hour and later at night (730pm) for the first week or so. Now she hasn’t responded in nearly a week. I’m hoping it just means everything is good to go but I’ve asked if my model 3 is at its delivery location yet or not and if she remains my delivery specialist through delivery or if I get assigned someone at the delivery center itself. I think she is based a few states away from me. They just have pretty poor communication. Even the new delivery overview could be much more clear. Why is the last step before delivery “confirm details and make payment?” Why isn’t there a step where one “receive final MVPA?” My account has said they are working on my final contract for 4 business days now and I take delivery in 4 days. I guess I can just wait and expect it to show up 24-48 hours before delivery?

Not from them, no. My sales associate did get back to me - she also chased Costa Mesa and heard from them, somewhat vaguely, that my car might be ready at the end of the week. No delivery appointment yet.

Sales associate has consistently been good, but Costa Mesa is entirely unresponsive. And no explanation of what the delay was.

I had 2 cancellation from Costa Mesa, still waiting for them to give me a new date for delivery. No one know what going on at the Costa Mesa location.

I just got an email today from Owings Mills saying that my car "won't arrive in time" for my re-scheduled 8/27 delivery date (original date was 8/18). No other details provided. It's bizarre and makes absolutely no sense because when I spoke with someone at Owings Mills on 8/17 they told me that despite the issues with the truck that led to my first delivery cancellation, the truck was going to arrive the next day. The email went on to say there is no ETA and that I will be contacted to re-schedule my delivery when they have more information. Really disappointing.

Having said all that, my account is still showing the 8/27 delivery appointment and my original VIN re-appeared. I'll have to stop by Owings Mills later this week to see if my car is there or not and find out what's actually going on. I hope your delivery goes smoothly.

Mannnn...just found this thread--thought it was just me for a bit. My delivery was scheduled on the 18th at the Marina Del Rey. Tesla called a day before to say it didn't pass inspection. My first point of contact emailed me the following Monday and said it pass inspection, but no new delivery date. Just waiting now. Original vin was removed from my account. Honestly, I don't mind waiting. I hope I get a new vin with a later build date.
