Delivery delayed twice...

Anyone else getting delivery delays from the factory?

My car was originally scheduled for 10/28, then got pushed out to 10/30, and now they are saying no later than 11/12. This is not the priority delivery I thought I was getting with a Performance model! :(

To make things worse, I will not have the Tesla for a weekend trip that I had planned specifically to drive the car. I asked if I could get a loaner but it sounds like there are none free.

Anyone else with a recent delivery hearing anything similar. I was told this is across the board.

Interesting perhaps they are modifying the build out. I was told the power mirrors are now in all cars that are on order going forward. not sure if something else might be happening too?

That's no good, guys. Very depressing. Not looking good for my 11/26 then, I guess. :crying: Was hoping to have it for a weekend trip to Napa a few days later. Indeed, everyone on here was telling me I should expect it early given the "long" 2 month wait on a P. Glad I haven't gone shopping for financing yet.

I sold my car as well in anticipation of the original delivery date.

My DS has been working non-stop to see what he can do. I should get an update later today with the status of my car.

I guess all of this waiting will make the real delivery date even sweeter.

I wish we had someone on the inside to provide insight into the cause for the delays. I don't think it would be the Euro deliveries. This makes me wonder if there is a factory line issue. Like RainmakerJL said, we'll forget all about the stress, anxiety and delays when we have our dear, sweet rides parked in our respective homes.

I was led to believe that this was an automatic switch and that all new ones in the pipeline were getting switched to include the mirrors. I dont have a date yet as I have not pressed confirm...

I don't care too much about the auto mirrors, but one of the reasons that I didn't call and ask about it is that I half expect you're right--and that I might end up getting the power folding mirrors for free.

I don't have anything to base that on beyond my own hunch, though. Sounds like you talked to someone who told you that?

I haven't been delayed (yet) but I have been quoted a long delay between production (11/04) and delivery (11/25). My DS speculates that maybe this delay is due to my production being at the end of the line, but maybe there is something else afoot.

Anyone have any connections in production?

I wouldn't build any hard plans around delivery dates. That I guess should go without saying, except delivery dates were being beaten for a while. Now they are slipping. That is probably a good sign for sales volume (I hope) as opposed to a bad sign for production quality. I told my DS they can take as long as they need to build and ship me a pristine vehicle of high quality. I will happily wait for high quality at this price point.

I would totally understand, and be thrilled, if the delay was to add more awesome to my car. Not what I've been told. If they surprise me with folding mirrors when I get my car this weekend then +1 to TMC.

a sales rep at Westchester Tesla told me that but grain of salt of course...

I was told the opposite by the three delivery specialists I worked with that day while they sorted it out, and so were a number of others. The response was if you didn't order them, you won't get them, and if you want them you have to modify your order and pay the additional $250. So I had them modify my order. There's a giant thread here somewhere where everyone ordered but not yet in production called and upgraded to the new package.

I was wondering if those parts were holding up production, but I guess not.

It was more a "I'd sure like to take the new car on this trip I had already planned" than "I planned this trip around the new car," but I agree.

Life is good when the only major problem in life is a foiled drive to Napa Valley because your luxury sport sedan isn't ready. I am not trying to be a jerk, but this is the price you/we all pay for being part of a world changing concept and product as cutting edge as Tesla Model S. There may be minor issues, and delays but I can tell you it's all worth it, so sit back, take a breath and a sip a nice Napa red and chill out.

Jesus, you guys are brutal. Who said this was my only major problem? Or even a major problem? Or a problem at all? I mean, who would be excited and would prefer to take a new Model S over a Civic to wine country, am I right?

Totally, though in my experience the best way to visit wine country is in any car that someone else is driving.
