Does Tesla not handle registration/taxes for Texas customers

I know buying a Tesla in Texas is a weird process compared to other but I thought Tesla now handles registration/taxes and rolls it into the total invoice? I have a model Y order and was called by inside sales and explained I'll have to do it myself once I get the car/vin

So unless the laws have changed (and I am pretty sure they haven't) since when we got our S, the buyer pays all tax, registration and license fees to the state. Tesla rolls the destination charges into your final invoice.

this is what im confused about. When i spoke to my delivery specialist she made it sound like that tesla never handled registration/taxes for texas residents when ive read many people say the opposite.

When Tesla was handling the registrations, it sounded as if there was only one person in each county handling Tesla registrations so customers had to wait weeks (from reading posts, not first hand experience). It takes less than half an hour at the county tax office to register and pay sales tax--unless you're unfortunate enough to go on a busy day, and not counting driving time. So it appears they went back to the old way.

I'd guess that your delivery specialist is new and didn't know all the history.

I took delivery of my MS 6/6/2019 and all fees were prepaid along with the car and TT&L before delivery. They brought it to my house with temporary tags and I received the plates about 30 days later.

I took delivery in Dec ‘19, and Tesla handled everything for me. I paid my sales tax as part of paying for my car. Tesla mailed the plates and registration sticker to me directly. Which is easier than having to drive back up to a dealer to pick them up.

I just finalized my Model 3 purchase, I financed through Tesla and haven't taken delivery yet. What I did was went to my local tax office and asked the what the taxes would be on my purchase and the credit union is cutting a separate check to the county tax assessor which they are sending to me so I can take care of the TT&L part of my purchase.

I am waiting for my LR+3 delivery on 3/11/2020 in Plano, TX. My DA clearly told that Tesla used to handle sales tax and registration till 12/31/2019 and starting 1st Jan it is stopped. They will send papers within 30-45 days after delivery, which we need to take to Tax office and get plates ourselves.

Ok well it's obvious Tesla changed its policy in the new year. Wish my delivery specialist could have said that lol. Thanks this clears things up.

Well I screwed up entering the financial info then for my Y order. I put down the total plus tax as the amount I’m funding, thinking that they would put in the tax later. Whoops.

Picked up my new Model 3 in Dallas on 26 February, 2020. Got three temp tags good for 30 days each (consecutive). 10 days later I got the manuf. cert., some paperwork and a cover letter telling me to register the car at my local tax office. So I went there, paid sales tax and am waiting for tags.
That's Dallas County.
