I love the sound of a high performance ICE, but I could eventually see myself getting on board as a car lover with this sound at some point. And you could hear this sound when you want with out it being artificially generated through speakers (which I think is the dumbest thing ever, I would rather it be silent that coming from the speakers) because this is mainly combination of the wine of the electric motors and the straight cut gears. Now if you will take note when he is is not accelerating its not that loud, so it wont get annoying when your cruising down the highway because there is no tension in the gears (which is what makes the noise). But step on it and hear the sound of a mix between an f1 car and a jet!

That whine sounds pretty annoying to my ears. I do agree with you that silence is preferable to a fake artificially-generated motor sound.

Annoying? It also kinda sounds like a subway rail in a way. To each his own I guess.

As with most anything, there will be varying opinions all over the place and what some people will or wont like. What one person may consider a cacophony, others will find it melodious.

Here is a vid of the rimac concept one. I like this one better, not as high pitched but around a sweet spot:

That's the pedestrian warning sound... the Model 3 will/should have a sound to comply with the future regulations. The question is, will it sound cool or annoying.

One would hope it activates only when pedestrians are present :)

Yuck. The Pikes Peak car wouldn't sound bad if it were just lower-pitched. It sounds like an F1 car, like someone else mentioned. But it's just way too high-pitched.

Already posted in another thread, but I think it's relevant here. Skip to 2:15.

What about that second one I posted? From the inside of the concept one? I like it better and its lower pitched than the first.

I meant both the Fisker and the other "concept" video were "yuck". The Pikes Peak sounded like an F1 car (which is a cool sound), but was too high-pitched. Normal ICE cars don't sound like F1 cars, so I don't think it's needed.

If someone wants an aftermarket engine sound in their car, have at it. I just don't think it's something Tesla should be installing.

I believe in the old saying: Silence if golden.

As I get older, it has much more meaning.

    Silence drives me crazy!

Need some white noise, pink noise, or anything as long as it's not harsh to my ears.
