Morgan Stanley thinks a capital raise is imminent. From today's MS research note:

When is the next cap raise? Elon alluded to a series of important corporate announcements scattered every couple of weeks or so going forward. Combined with strong price performance (stock up more than 50pct since last equity raise), the time may be very favorable to bolster liquidity ahead of a heavy investment phase for Gen 3.

I think it is some new functionality enabled by the steering wheel controls….
You mean like adjusting max regen power via one of those roller buttons on the fly?

Elon 4/3 "The next one will be sometime next week. It could be as soon as Monday, but we haven’t decided on a firm date. Did I mention we’ll be focusing on service? The Monday announcement is going to be focused on service. And in the following week or two after that we’re going to have a big announcement on the supercharger network, and then following that we’re going to have a mystery announcement or two if people aren’t completely sick of hearing about us. Ha ha."

I think number 5 will be vehicle to grid. It is already right under your nose and it could fit in with the energy/grid plans and be pretty revolutionary for a production electric car.

It could power your house during a power outage or even charge a friends Tesla when they need a quick boost. Kind of like buddy breathing.

2 more announcements coming this month apparently
Service and Super Charger

Here's another article posted today on Engadget. Some interesting tidbits:
- Tesla is targeting 2016 and "no later than 2017" for Gen 3.

- About a week from now there will be another announcement concerning service:
[Elon] has a game plan, he says, to create "the best service program of any car" -- something he slyly indicates we'll be learning more about in roughly a week's time.

- In two weeks there will be a Supercharger announcement of some kind:
And that's not all the teasing. Musk also promises a major announcement regarding the company's Supercharger network is due in just two weeks. "It's a very exciting and dramatic -- really dramatic -- increase in the number of Superchargers and in what Superchargers can do. I think people will be really psyched."

Investors reacted to the financing/leasing announcement as though it were plain vanilla. Actually, vanilla is quite flavorful and the announcement was quite favorable. Nevertheless, Elon seems to be sequencing his announcements in a crescendo based on an expectation of rising emotional appeal. He’ll soon discuss an upgrade in customer service to be followed by an enhancement in the Supercharger network. Then a mystery announcement that’s “right under your nose”. Without an advertising budget, he is cleverly manipulating the media to follow his lead. It’s a sales pitch extended over several weeks. Like a good speech it increasingly gathers interest and ends with words that elicit heavy applause. This is all good for investors with a little patience.
