Elon made a personal appearance for all of 2-3 minutes on the Twitter Space discussion but bailed out without answering any substantial questions.

Elon made a personal appearance for all of 2-3 minutes on the Twitter Space discussion but bailed out without answering any substantial questions.

He's very busy creating polls and memes and such though...busy guy.

What he says:

I will make sure Tesla shareholders benefit from Twitter long-term.
What he does:

Elon sells another $3.6B of TSLA.

Actions speak louder than words. Is it even possible for Elon to make good on this boast?

Protips: Selling $3.5B of TSLA every month is not the way to ensure Tesla shareholders benefit from Twitter. Nor is the long list of things Elon has done to alienate Twitter users and advertisers. Overtly politicizing Twitter (and Tesla by extension) is not helping Twitter and is not helping Tesla shareholders.

So Tom Fitton is an editor of Judicial Watch, which, in addition to advertising on Breitbart, is also a big fan of the argument that climate change is a hoax. They are not just dabblers in that, according to his wiki entry, they are actually suing some scientists in an attempt to get emails which they hope will show that said client scientists know climate change is a hoax but just haven't let all of us in on the gag.

So, what does everyone think about Elon responding to, of all people, this guy:

1. Elon doesn't really know who he is.
2. Elon doesn't care who he is, he just posted a nice swipe at Biden so that's good enough.
3. Elon knows who he is, but battling the WMV is more important than a guy who is against everything not one, but two companies Elon also owns are trying to address.
4. Oh, and 4, Elon didn't even bother actually reading whether it was Fitton, or Fruiton, or Figgen, its not how Elon rolls after a blunt or three.
5. What is really going on is the whole "accelerate the change to sustainable energy" is the actual joke, those of us who believed in it are suckers, and the real problem is the Babylon Bee got banned for the meanest swipe at an arguably, barely public figure one could think of, that only someone who is into making fun of trans people would find funny.

I vote for either 1 or 4. I may be too optimistic and its really 2, 3, or (ugh) 5.

Just to be more complete, Tom Fitton is also one of those who was whispering in Trump's ear encouraging him to treasonously keep power. Even before the election.

Some details here, (Who Is Tom Fitton? The Voter Fraud Propagandist Who Urged Trump to Ignore the Will of the People | Right Wing Watch) repeated in many other places.

The fact that Musk listens to him at all on Twitter is disgusting. He's another person who clearly belongs in prison along with his fellow insurrectionists.

These findings were presented during the House select committee’s ninth hearing held Thursday and, taken along with comments from Steve Bannon and Roger Stone and testimony from Greg Jacobs, were evidence that Trump had a premeditated plan to declare victory whether or not he had the votes....

Fitton hasn’t relented in waging war on voting. During his 2021 CPAC address, Fitton declared that “Voting by mail should be generally ended.” And in 2022, Fitton became the president of the Council of National Policy, whose members were prominent in the campaign to overturn the 2020 election results.

Welp, just saw in news about the mass suspending of journalists on Twitter (I guess you guys also discussed this already). Does Elon not realize how hypocritical he looks now with a move like this, and how unconvincing his justification for it is? This is the prime reason few believed Twitter can be a "free speech" platform with him having the final say on content, but I didn't expect this example to happen so soon.

Then not respecting the poll he made asking if they should be reinstated and the disaster with the Twitter Spaces.

I see up thread his post about the 7 day ban for journalists and that taking some time off Twitter can be a good thing. Perhaps Elon really needs to take his own advice and take some time off Twitter?

It appears that way. Anyone want to bet how long it will be before Twitter goes under?

It's not gonna go under - Elon can keep it going quite a long time with his piles of TSLA cash.

But this idea that he's headed toward making it a nirvana of centrist, delightful, well reasoned free speech town hall is already pretty much a farce. He's deeply anti-free-speech on anything he doesn't happen to like. Twitter is now his personal agenda platform, openly biased to his political tribal concerns.... which is amusingly the very thing he claimed was wrong at Twitter and needed fixing.

1. So much for Vox Populi.
2. Perhaps a public square shouldn’t be privatized.

Twitter suspends journalists who have been covering Elon Musk and the company

The Twitter account for Mastodon, a platform billed as a Twitter alternative, was also suspended early Thursday evening. Twitter accounts operated by NBC News journalists were unable to tweet any links to Mastodon pages. Mastodon was, however, trending on Twitter.

He [Musk] had earlier put up a poll with a variety of options, asking whether or when he should reinstate the journalists’ accounts. When a plurality of respondents voted to restore the accounts immediately, he deleted the poll and started a new one with fewer options.

In early November, shortly after having taken control of Twitter, Musk tweeted that he would not ban the account that tracked his jet.

Musk suspends journalists from Twitter, claims ‘assassination’ danger

The same day, a new Twitter policy outlawed the sharing of “live location information, including information shared on Twitter directly or links to … travel routes, actual physical location, or other identifying information that would reveal a person’s location, regardless if this information is publicly available.”

Yet none of the tweets from suspended reporters that The Post has reviewed revealed the location of Musk or his family.

Rep. Lori Trahan (D-Mass) wrote on Twitter Thursday night that her staff had met that same day with Twitter officials. “They told us that they’re not going to retaliate against independent journalists or researchers who publish criticisms of the platform. Less than 12 hours later, multiple technology reporters have been suspended.”
