I started the update for my German Model X Founders Edition about an hour ago. Now the car did completely shut down. Even the doors don't work. Is this normal?

Behavior on this update is (probably not surprisingly) quite different from the previous minor updates. An hour into the update, the car is now acting like it's totally bricked.

I did not get any notification on my iPhone app. I decided to get to the car to reconnect wifi but as soon as I hop in I saw this.

I just received the notification of a software update on my Android phone...guessing this is the version 8.0 update. Is there anyway to get more details about the notifications on the app, or can you only see a notification that there is a software update?

I'm going to wait until my usual update time overnight to install it...

True. My wife went for a ride and confirms she didn't see a message, but that she feels that it is indeed stronger.

Update complete - total time 1 hour 11 minutes. As I reported earlier, there is a long (maybe 30 minute) period when it looks like it's bricked. No worries. Now, to dig into the UX...

Just a note: the excitement is not just because of the software...
We took delivery last Wednesday and dropped off the car at the detailer same day. So, I only got to actually use the car on my own for about 2 hours...
It's like delivery day again, only now I get to experience the new software.

Also, don't care about all the complaints on 8.0 as I've barely touched 7.1...

Ignorance is bliss or something like that.
