Fog lights missing?

I have a tech package P85 and the bottom lights have the light pipe. However I don’t have options to turn on the fog lights. Am I missing the option or was my car not supposed to come with them? I have a December build 2013.

Did you look up the options your vehicle came with on the Monroney sticker?

Did you buy it from Tesla new or used?

I got it used and found the sticker. Looks like fog lights were a separate option at that time? I thought there were only lower light assemblies, without fog light and without light pipe, and with fog light and light pipe? I've read many posts where people post they put the foglight on the car, and instantly got the light pipes, and need to get the fog's turned on.

Is there actually 3 lower light assemblies? 4 if you count the 2 generation fogs?

I have a CPO car and at delivery inspection I asked where to fog light option was. The delivery specialist didn’t know. I sent the CPO specialist the option sticker that clearly says fog lights are on the option list and their response was that I could pay to have the lights retrofitted but the option didn’t come with the car.

I sent the sticker again, circled “fog lights” and now they are ignoring me.

Any suggestions?

Tony (Hi again) and Robert;

I also have early '15MS, and have been wondering about lights and other features. Apart from getting the Mulrony Sticker, I entered the VIN on the EV-CPO site and got a complete list of option codes. For instance, I have LP00, TP00, with delete the lighting package. I also have YF00, no yacht floor, YET, I do have a yacht floor!

Found this...

2013 Exterior Fog Lamps were discontinued from the Technology Package. (somewhere in the 7000 VIN range) in the Design Studio in February of 2013

Looks like that was the end of included fog lights. I have a April Vin 7423 build that has the fog lights. It was probably ordered around February before removal?

I think it's pretty official there are at least 3 lower lights. I have 100% confirmed I do not have fog lights however I have light pipes and cornering lights.

My fog lights should arrive this week, so I should have full fog light functionality end of this week. I was able to find 2014 lights.

So actually I think there are at least 4 lower lights

  • bad fog (per elon, ones before late 13), corner, and pipe
  • fog (late 13+), corner, and pipe
  • corner and pipe
  • Turn signal only (maybe corner??)

Pictures of all these different possibilities?

I'm beginning to wonder what I have.

I believe fog lights were a standalone option after being dropped from tech package. I can post some pictures of Early 2013 fogs, 2014 fogs, and my current lights. I would be great if you can help and we can try to get all the lights in this thread. You should see the light pipes light up when you turn on your lights if you have them. The cornering ones turn on once you turn your steering wheel past where it lights them up, I don't know if they are a option but I do recall seeing people say they added light pipes so that make me feel confident some cars don't have them.

  • Blue is the light pipe, look for the clear plastic.
  • Yellow is the fog light, look for the clear piece, non fog light units have nothing there or a black domed piece.
  • Green is the cornering lights, look for the 2 led, not sure what it looks like on cars without, never seen...
  • Orange is the signal light, all cars have I think.
Please add your pictures. This is a 2014 unit with all 4.

Thanks for that photo, on my car I can see the black plastic blank where fog lenses should be... so, not equipped.

Do people find these fogs to be generally effective? Given the diminutive size... wondering about light output. I know LEDs are a whole new game for how much light comes out of a given space... but housing shapes and lens geometries would matter too to throw the light down where needed in a fog.

@TonyT are you physically adding just fogs to your existing assemblies, or getting new assemblies?
Once the hardware is in place, does anybody know if it's a trip to service to get them enabled and accessible on console, or if a button just appears because they are automatically detected?

I don't think they are very effective.. I don't recall a huge difference when I drove one that had it. It looks cool!! I bought whole new assemblies. I don't think there is a place to buy just the light... Unless it's from another car, but I'm not gonna risk water intrusion and dissect my new lights. Will require tesla to enable them after install, then the button will appear.

Is yours a black dome, or flat?

Might have to walk in and wait to talk to a manager?
