Can you describe how the remote diagnose process works? Does it require the owner to have any special equipment/hardware?
 
No special equipment. All that's needed is the vehicle's VIN and the email linked to your VIN/Tesla account so that Tesla can send you an approval request to allow remote access. Be sure to double check you have the right email that's linked to your Tesla account. Note, for obvious privacy reasons, you need to be the registered owner linked to the vehicle/account - for example, it can't be a car you might be interested in buying, the vehicle owner needs to approve the request.

To that end, remote access is TEMPORARY and is used ONLY for diagnostics.
