Should be noted that this isn't all about the tax credit. Canada is now offered $5000 off and the 10K supercharger credits in December and we have no such tax credit looming.

I'm sure the tax credit had a lot to do with the US discounts but it seems it has now become a big problem with sitting inventory.

I can't believe how fast everything changed....waiting for my car for 8 months from March, switching options just to get it in October instead of my original estimate of December. Now I could have just walked in and bought my original order (no options MSM color) with March pricing and a $5000 discount.....Tesla is in trouble.

Looks like you can get into the Custom order page again. Yesterday you couldn't. Still looks like a custom order MYP is estimated for December but who knows if they can get it to you that fast or not?
That's interesting - seems like they don't have the pricing power like they used to. If not for the tax credit, they would likely need to reduce prices, and they might anyways. $70k is not cheap, especially right now. I feel pretty bad for those that purchased and took delivery in the prior few months at current pricing without incentives.

Congrats to those who waited till now! Definitely kicking myself a bit for taking delivery at the $3750 discount level but nothing I can do at this point.
One key takeaway though for the future is you can't trust Tesla so buy at the last possible moment!

Also sell that Tesla stock - serious demand issues for sure if they're offering discounts like this!
Yup. $7500 off now almost makes one forget how much the price has been jacked up over the last year. End of q1 quarter will be interesting since obviously the demand issues will be growing as the economy slows further and first mover advantage fades, though folks also looking at a tax rebate dropping from 7500 to 3750. But expect other quarters to continue to have last minute price cuts.

Good to be a smart customer. Alas not good for shareholders.

Don’t be surprised in 2023 to see them drop base prices on the MYLR and then introduce some MYLR+ type product with radar/hardware add-ons etc at the existing price point.
I don’t think they’d limit better sensors to higher price points? That’s the core value proposition — these cars can do “true” FSD someday with a software-only upgrade.

Did anyone get the free 10k Supercharge credit yet?
You should be getting the SC credit on the 6th. I asked for more details before taking delivery and I got this:

Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it. I picked up a new model 3 last week and I haven’t received my charger yet. Was really counting on the super charging miles to kick in today but that was a bummer. Just got fully charged for $22 at the nearest supercharger.

I don’t know what Elon is trying to prove by waiting until January 6 for the credit. :(

In before conspiracy theories.

Probably just a few days to audit who gets the credit and who doesn’t.
It’s a fully computerized car. They shouldn’t need six days to track the delivery date and activate the free credit. Should take only few minutes over the internet.
Even if they screw it up, they can always do the auditing and cancel the credit later once confirmed and so the customers who are eligible don’t need to wait six days. That would be considered exceptional customer service.

Well they don’t even have a live person to answer your concerns during online order process and everything is via text messages. Not surprising at all.
