Front and/or rear dash cams as options

Just wondering. I can't understand why Tesla does not offer, as an option, factory installed front and rear dash cams. They could be totally hidden, with a dedicated usb or SD card slot. Would be an additional revenue generating option and would save the hassle of having to install one oneself.

I installed a small dash cam behind the rear view mirror and it is well hidden but Tesla could easily have one as an option built into the front of the mirror itself. And of course, the backup camera could be configured to record easily I assume.

Please excuse me if this has been discussed before.

I agree. The after market option is less ideal, especially in the X with it's large open glass, running another wire seems like a shame. I believe the new Corvettes have the option but I am not aware of other cars with it.

For the X, a good installer will set the dash cam (e.g. Blackvue) down low onto the dash. The wiring then goes behind the dash. The one install I saw with the front dash cam IN THE x up high behind the inside rear view mirror, the installer ran the cables parallel to the existing channel for the Mobileye camera and mirror and the install did not look clean. YMMV.
