Or I could copy your idea with a high quality scan/print of my local plate on a bumper sticker, keeping the real front plate in the frunk in case of emergency. It could even go over the vinyl wrap or bra to prevent paint damage.

According to a post on a Lotus forum, a cop here in Colorado told the person that vinyl plates are a very bad idea because they are essentially a forged state document which could be a felony offence. I don't know if that's true but might be worth investigating. Otherwise it's a nice solution!

One wonders how traffic cops of all kinds manage to get by, and public safety maintained, in the 19 or so states that require only a rear plate.
