Are we stuck with low supercharge 2015 s 85d?

That’s unfortunate! An observation that would support your theory about them trying to nudge people off of the free super charging - for the last couple months I have noticed that the 85D doesn’t route to necessary superchargers even though online routing and trip planner are both enabled in the...

    Front cooling louvers

Just an update months later I’m charging now, I’ve seen charge rates go up to 127 kW at very low states of charge but tapers off to around 100 by the time it hits 20% state of charge. But I am still not seeing the louvers open and close upon plugging in and it’s 75° or so right now. (… the above...

Are we stuck with low supercharge 2015 s 85d?

S85D I’ve been hitting up to 127 kW at low states of charge below about 10% down to 100 or less by 20% . Currently it’s 75°F, cooling louvers have remained closed the whole time, and I’m getting 60 kW at 40%. Update now I’m getting 51 kW at 50%. By the way before the warranty ran out earlier...

    2015 Model S Floor Mats

Just wanted to shine a light on the standard non all weather floor mats in a 2015 model s. They’ve been a weak point of the vehicle since the first couple months, having come loose where the plastic attachments connect w/ adhesive for front drivers mat. They bunch up regulaly, honestly probably...

Are we stuck with low supercharge 2015 s 85d?

We took an epic road trip from California, through the south, to New York, back through the north/midwest. Tesla’s trip planning these days seems to be extra conservative, advising you to charge up very high. Once getting our charging stride, I ended up aiming to arrive with 5-10%, and charging...

Are we stuck with low supercharge 2015 s 85d?

Now I’m at 40 KW at 64% …. The e-golf maintains 43KW until 80% consistently. This seems indefensible and should be embarrassing enough for Tesla to remedy this issue for all OG owners who gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Are we stuck with low supercharge 2015 s 85d?

85d here still under battery power train warranty and just charged from ~20% SOC and got 60 KW… immediately down to 54 then 52 kW still well below 50% SOC eventually down to 42 KW…..e-golf levels. Recently had thenlouvers replaced figured slow charging in cold weather was because of them. But...

    Front cooling louvers

Thanks for writing back! I think it was around 52-54° f during the session described above. But regardless of if the louvres are opening or not, this charge curve is suspect. I even drove the car hard for a while before charging To warm up the battery. Oddly I even managed to get higher peak...

    Front cooling louvers

So I got the car back from service with the replaced louvers. When I touch them now I can feel that they give a little But I’ve only now seen them in the closed position. However, I just now tried supercharging at a V2 station and only got as high as 80 kW at 30% state of charge. At 54% I’m now...

    Front cooling louvers

So finally took it in for the louvers and a couple other things. First off - what a nightmare trying to get a loaner from modern Tesla service…. anyways they wanted to charge a diagnostic fee first and ultimately 630+ just for these louvers (which as far as I’m concerned should be covered by...

    Front cooling louvers

Thanks, I’ve been meaning to explore that for a while. As an update still haven’t observed the louvres in the closed position. Currently charging in cold weather 52% at 30 kW…..this is ridiculous. Had dropped the vehicle off at a service center for a suspension noise, I know the frunk was out...

    Front cooling louvers

So I’ve been experiencing slowish supercharging for example at 61% getting 38 kW …. That’s worse than our egolf :/….but it seems like it’s slower than usual in cold whether. Now, I’m wondering if one’s louvers are permanently stuck open, can that prevent the battery from warming up enough when...

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

Glad to see some positive results for replacements. Just charged today with our 85d from around 35% to around 65% and never reached higher than 42 kW. So the same speed as our 2016 e-golf….I wonder when it will finally be productive to request a replacement based on charging speed being nerfed...

    Plaid range decline

More likely than anything the bms hasn’t had enough time + variable states of charge while the car is asleep to Calibrate accurately. It’s my understanding it skews towards being conservative. There’s a great post about it somewhere here…

Tesla autopilot is too strict on rules

I’ll have to test it out more closely re speed cap, but re radar, I’m pretty sure the legacy AP1 cars couldnt have gotten rid of radar as they only have the one camera.

Need Help Convincing Spouse To Buy

Sounds like there might be a lack of education on the subject. Maybe slowly introduce pieces of the puzzle bit by bit, and eventually the history books will be on your side. But before then when her myopic rage has been channeled elsewhere, will be less resentment

Tesla autopilot is too strict on rules

As a legacy AP1 user, I have found in recent(last couple years?) versions that nagging is much more aggressive on sketchier roads/stretches (hates those invterted lane marking past the grapevine) . Also have been put into autopilot jail more often and with more variable causes, including while...

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

Gotcha, different severity of suspension failures, lucky I took it in or maybe would have ended up with the broken piece of suspension. i Would say that (knocking issue resolved) the drive/suspension feel incredibly tight/smooth.

Just wanted to add my experience to the communal knowledge pool for debugging of clunky/rattle like noises coming from the front of a 2015 S85D At first I thought it had to be the front drive unit motor mount or something because it would click/thunk the most when going from accel to regen and...

    Does anyone wave anymore?

The Tesla community has gotten so large I see waving less… that said I regularly notice and oftentimes salute any all-electric vehicle on the road, regardless which EV I’m currently in. Toyotas get a 1 finger salute and to eat my dust hehe.

I traded in my Model S for a Prius Prime

Any more affordable used gen 1 EV could fit the bill for your ‘low end runaround car’ much better, inherently more reliable without oil changes and orders of magnitude less moving parts, also with cheaper running costs. Also, supporting a company like toy which has singlehandedly attempted to...

I traded in my Model S for a Prius Prime

Reality check - it can’t. Good luck with a low range EV ~90 miles let alone this. Might as well not pretend and just get a full on gas car to cut the complexity and unreliability in half.

Radar deleted on all new Model Y and Model 3. Is FSD worth it?

I’m sure when they’ve validated parity or even advantage, that’s when they’ll switch you over. If that never happens and camera only never supersedes legacy sensor suite (I expect...

Radar deleted on all new Model Y and Model 3. Is FSD worth it?

Consumer reports have lost credibility over the years. But there sure are plenty of armchair quarterbacks who never built a driver assist system, let alone have access to Tesla’s vast AI pipeline project. Exciting stuff.

Radar deleted on all new Model Y and Model 3. Is FSD worth it?

NHTSA requires new testing for any non-trivial changes that could impact the safety systems. Obviously a radar-deleted version is novel so doing a new rating is business as usual. Just like ap1 v ap2+ you’ll get your feature parity…..and, judging by the progress we’re seeing on FSD, “and then some”
