Can you post some pics showing your set up?
So here is what I used to complete this install ...
- Anker USB Hub (I had this lying around)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJ331WY/
- Mayflash MAGIC-NS Wireless Controller Adapter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079B5KHWQ/
- Aikenuo USB 6-port charger
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0779D7DFG/
- 12V Power Cable - 4 foot (5.5x2.1mm connector)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0746GPQH3/
- Barrel adapter - 5.5x2.1mm to 6.3x3.0mm right-angle
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L5GB34N/
I began with ordering the Aikenuo charger, but then realized the included power cable is a little too short and the jacket is a little too thick for my liking. I searched for a 4-foot cable with 6.3x3.0 connector (what is on the Aikenuo) - but best I could find was a 4-foot cable + barrel adapter. (See links above)
I decided to stick with the Aikenuo since it had very good reviews, and feels extremely high quality. It just needs a better cable. (I wrote to Aikenuo and received a reply that a new cable will be available in the November timeframe.)
For install - I began by watching the "wire routing instructions" on this video:
-
It's quite simple; remove the drivers' side trim, remove the 6 screws holding the metal trim in place, remove the small rubber grommet, and then I drilled a small hole through the side of the console to pass the wire through.
I then ran the 12V Power Cable above from the power port, through the drivers' side wall of the console, and then passed the barrel connector through the hole I drilled.
I then mounted the Aikenuo charger on the underside of the phone charger door. Plugged the barrel adapter into the Aikenuo, and then the 12V cable into it. Wala - 6 ports of high power USB in the front compartment. (You'll see the two cables from the Nomad wireless charging pad plugged into the Aikenuo. I also use an Echo Auto, but unplugged it for the photo since it just got in the way.)
That frees up the 2 front USB ports - one I use for the Anker USB hub, with two MAGIC-NS wireless game controller adapters. The other port is for my USB flash drive. I happened to have the Transcend Jetflash drive lying around, so I used that. Could be almost any USB stick.
Let me know if you have any questions - but it's working GREAT!
