At the Whole Foods in Kailua, found a Model S charging - my first sighting of a Model S in the flesh!

After Whole Foods, went to Windward Mall, and heading back to town, as a bonus ran into this green Roadster.

All in all, a very good Tesla day!

Had my First Tesla sighting today! I was exiting at Kinau/Ward Ave and he was getting on the freeway...nice signature red one..might be the same one pictured above. couldn't get my phone out in time to take a picture though..

Can't wait to get mine or see more on the road

that was probably Jkam you saw. I "stalked"/tracked him down to see his Model S, he frequents that area.
With any luck they will deliver my Silver Model S and you will see me getting off on the Kinau exit.
I have been "assured" that my delivery "complications" have been brought to the attention of "management" and special attention is being paid to my account.
Not really sure what that means. after a number of logistics hickups, my car finally made it to the docks in Oakland but was never put on the boat (that I was told it would be on). after a week of requesting a status they finally found it still sitting on the docks. I was told it would be on the next boat. (it was actually the next boat after the next boat) Still waiting for it to arrive here in HNL. Still waiting for them to send the bill of lading so I can take care of the Taxes.. and then on to inspection/registration.

Yeah it sounds like dsmith2189's situation is really messed up. I was hoping that Tesla/UPS would have learned from previous experience, but dsmith2189's delivery is even more messed up than mine.

It probably doesn't help that after working very hard for the 2nd half of 2012, Tesla is allowing its employees to take vacation time. In a previous post I mentioned meeting a Tesla engineer who was here for vacation. I know other employees are taking vacation time too.

These stories are exactly why I'm going to finalize immediately (received the invitation this morning) even though the expected delivery will be March and my lease on my current BMW isn't finished until end of April. Seems everyone gets it later than they expect!

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Tesla sighting in Honolulu, but so far, no luck! The only one I saw "in the flesh" was in Las Vegas last month. The Kinau/Ward off ramp is my exit also so I'm bound to see one of you soon!

Going to San Jose to do a test drive first week in February and will finalize config shortly thereafter. Hope they will have improved the delivery process by the time my car is ready. Sorry to hear your delivery problems, but thank you for sharing your experiences.

Just read through this entire thread in detail now that I've finalized my order and have to give a big thank you to all the contributors, especially JKam for the instructions on getting the car legal here in Hawaii.
Of the two that I've seen on the road (well, actually parked) neither had the front plate mounted. Has anyone gotten tickets for this yet? And for any owners that had their front plate mounted, what method did you use to secure it?
Early on in the thread I saw that the Tesla Personal Delivery charge was not cleared up and now that I have the MVPA just wanted to state that the charge is NOT higher for Hawaii. $990 anywhere in the U.S.

One more question for Hawaii owners; Did you use Solar City for your Nema plug installs? How was your experiences with your installer? Which institution did you use to finance (I see PenFed is popular on the general forums)? And were there any hassles with getting insured with the companies available here (Farmers, State Farm, Geico?) or any other general experiences. I'll share as soon as my situation progresses.

Just got my configure email! P14892. Since I'm getting a 40kwh, am assuming wont get the car until summer since they won't be producing those until March. I know what options I want, just stuck on color. Silver vs. Blue??

Are you getting a delivery specialist or will you pick it up on your own?

FYI, my friend saw a new black one getting unwrapped yesterday. I kind of lost track, but I'm guessing there is probably a dozen or so Model S running around the island now.
