Oil change and diesel fix cost you this much? Wow.

Tesla appear to be covering the £2,500 Gov Grant for Inventory Cars delivered in March, the usual end of Quarter push but maybe also an opportunity for some who maybe feel that they were about to lose out.
I got a text from Tesla this morning

quote

the plug in Car Gerant threshold has changed. If you missed out, Tesla will cover £2500 for new Model 3 orders delivered before April 1sr 2021. Please respond yes for a call back and to explore inventory.

end quote

Does the grant only apply for cars ordered before the cut off?
Or do they physically have to be delivered to qualify?
The grant is gone, but Tesla are offering to fund it (or £2500 of it) for a while and knowing the way Tesla work, they'll want delivery by the end of the month and then it will be gone. At the end of next quarter they'll think of something else to push for quarter end deliveries..

Used iPaces are now under £40k, they seem like bargains at that kind of price versus new EVs!
yes but what does a new I-Pace actually cost. Are there not some deep discounts on offer? in which case 40K may not be as much of a fall in value as it seems.
Was it not a bit overpriced to begin with when compared to an M3?
Having said that its notable that a 2019 I-Pace with similar mileage is now worth slightly less than an M3 LR the same age. so the depreciation of the I pace has lost between 15-25K in value dependant on how much of a discount you got but the M3 has only lost about £6K. based on Autotrader private sale prices. That's hell of a difference. There are currently also more than 3 times the number of I-Pace for sale as there are M3. So that level of depreciation is likely to continue.
BTW until Apply buys Jaguar its I-Pace not iPace

So if someone ordered before the grant was removed they would no longer qualify?
When the grant was changed last year I had an order outstanding, and it transpired that Tesla applies for the grant as soon as you complete all of the paperwork in your Tesla Account.

Once the grant application has been made it's guaranteed for a period (can't remember if it's 6 or 9 months), to account for manufacturing delays. Anyone that has an existing order shouldn't be affected - as long as you don't make any changes that require the grant application to be changed (i.e. changing models).

You can still register your interest, it might well be funded again in April.

Got this when I registered

Applications for this scheme are currently closed. By submitting an online enquiry you have been placed on an ‘expression of interest’ list and we will contact you if and when the scheme opens for applications in 2021-22, at which point we will know the terms and conditions.

Let's hope they don't follow the UK Gov lead and introduce a Vehicle Price Cap.

Diesel fix was replacing spark plugs within the exaust system - thats how the DPD filter system works - burns the particulates to ash so it passes through the filter. They were not igniting the fuel, so it spilled over into the engine oil. My oil level was going up, not down.

So yeah it involved storipping the entire exaust system out and replacing 3 of the 4 spark plugs in it, then changing the oil - again - because it had diesel in it.

Well ok that is a lot of work, the good news I guess is that you do not have any of the oil issues or engine with the Tesla.

That story puts a shudder down my spine as I had exactly the same problem with a Jaguar XF. Had to have two additional oil changes at £100 a throw because of DPF contamination. Apparently, the car didn't like my short commute to work.
