HK: Model S Deposit date - confirmation - Sequence # - expected delivery

Just received a call from Tesla HK delivery team. "HK deliveries have been pushed back by 1 to 1.5 months."
New delivery for me end of October.

I just got a call which had no caller ID. I normally don't answer these unless I am expecting someone, as it's usually a dialling computer fishing for ... something, maybe advertisement potential. Maybe that was from Tesla Motors, using some kind of VOIP from the US.

END of october for production sequence #395? For P47XXX VINs that's a bit late. HK Sigs arriving in July, at least they will get that priority they paid such a high deposit for.

I don't really know what to put into the table on post #1 here but it needs updating for sure.

If you have any better guesses than mine (from post #1), please feel free to suggest other dates.

Basically this is consistent with the 1 to 1.5 month pushback of HK deliveries Tesla informed me today.
Sadly the HK market seems to have very low priority for Tesla.
Just hope the car itself will make up for the delays.

I'm not sure I've read this post before I posted yesterday. Has the comments order screwed up?

@Vmax: is that ALL HK delivery? Or non-sig? Especially somebody posted a pic of several imported Model S in HK.

My Dashboard is now "Production Complete" and car in transit from the factory. Anyone with similar experience on how much longer should I expect for delivery?

And still radio silence from my delivery specialist... Somewhat expected.

Do you have Jacob as your delivery specialist? That's who I have and when I was on the phone with him last night, he made it sound like he's the only guy on the team.

According to DITB's table, you should fall right behind Waidy's siblings and she got a delivery estimate of mid-September. So yours should be right around there too. So it seems that's part of the delay - they originally budgeted 6 weeks for shipping and TD clearance and they are finding it takes longer than that - probably closer to 8 weeks.

Extrapolating from others it takes about six weeks until delivery. I've observed that the confirmation calls or emails occurs regarding delivery occur about 3-4 weeks before the delivery date. This suggests that the car is on the boat on its way to HK and has left California.

Although the sailing times can be as short as 15 days, various shipping delays from loading, unloading, storms, etc. can cause extra delays. Similarly, the TD may be delaying delivery. In theory the delivery should be about 4-5 weeks after production is completed, setting expectations for 6 weeks seems appropriate given all the small delays adding up to differed deliveries. Anyhow, that's what I'm planning on for my car - which should be shortly after yours as one of the first production cars.

This also aligns with the September delivery period shared by my DS on June 26th. Note that no specific September date has been provided.

Well, I have to hate to believe (although I think it is true) that somehow our queue got screwed. I am still waiting to hear from the delivery team in which I believe consists of Jacob, Jaccques, Nico, and Yuet to tell me I am wrong and that our EVs are on sea (wishful thinking).

You may want to check with your delivery specialist again. They received word three days ago that shipments have been further delayed 4-6 weeks. I don't know if it affects your delivery and it would be a good data point for this forum whose deliveries got delayed and whose did not.
As far as I can see right now, it seems to affect all general production vehicles.

I have now updated post#1 once again, for the record, here's the current state of my combined guesswork (won't be updated, see post #1 for subsequent updates):

HK Tesla Model S Tally - 2014-07-16.png

From the recent posts, I updated the table accordingly. If you think you know better, please let me know and I am happy to adjust it.

For what I have heard, there are at least 50 customer Model S in Hong Kong at this stage, which - another guess - would indicate that all Signature customers would get their cars within 23rd of July and the weeks following that.

Then maybe a pause - for whatever reason - until mid-September?

So here is one more guess: Signature cars for Japan and/or Australia could be delivered in the period between August 15th and September 15th, and then resuming production car delivery after that date.

Am I completely off here?

It should make sense, and hand on the heart:

I could only afford the 39,000 HKD down payment at the time (December 2012). There are people who have let Tesla Motors borrow 315,000 HKD (CMIIAW?), also with no interest, and with a certain risk, for anywhere between half a year to several years. This has been a tremendous help to the success of Tesla Motors.

I would hereby, on behalf of the entire human race (no less!), like to extend a grateful thank you to all fellow reservation holders and supporters, Signature or production, on behalf of "the cause" - moving from "mine and burn" transportation and onto solar powered transportation.

This is only the beginning, and you, gentlemen and women, have been, and are still, an important part of it. Be proud of that.

Lord give me patience, but please hurry!

Amen.

Sorry if this sounds like some kind of prayer, there are no religious intentions here.

I will be patient, I will be patient, I will be patient.

My new estimate delivery will be mid-November, according to my DS. Wish there won't be another delay otherwise he will probably need to dress up in Santa costume and delivery my car late December.

I hope this is a butt-covering manoeuvre and that they are getting back to us soon and saying

"OK, it went better than we expected, back to original delivery dates"
