Just bought an inventory X to be delivery mid March. Who did you guys go with as the insurer? Liberty (who insures my S) says they charge a lot more for an X and better to go find another insurance company. And, any luck with you guys selling your S, what is a good venue? I think i will price up the S or even hold it for a few months to get any price appreciation from this FRT exemption. #earlyAdopterAdvantage

My 2015 MS 60 trade in quoted only 300k but I belief there is not much good venue to sell.

Good to know u bouhght it before the FRT got effective again!!!

I am also awaiting mine but got quotation recently from Kwiksure and prudential as per contacts given in the forums here which ranges from 6900 to 8200 and if you use AXA they are bit more exp around 9700. Still not decided.

I also shopped around and ended up with AXA Insuremytesla. Slightly more pricey but better coverage with glass etc and less excess too. The 3 year deal could bring down the yearly average cost too. You know those glasses on the FWD can end up hitting the beam above in the carparks etc. :)

Yes, Tesla anticipated this, there were about 10 configs per color to choose from in the X90D category. So I assume they prrobably have about 100-200 Tesla S&X on ship ready for March deployment.

Do you guys think the X will be too big in HK? I just checked, it is about 8 to 10cm wider than the S. Kind of daunting to park in HK.

Optic,

the X is pretty big (I got mine last week), but it doesn't seem that bad in car parks so far. Sure, you have to be careful with tight bends, especially of catching the back wheels but so far I haven't had any problems. In one car park I go to a lot there are some tight 90 degree bends and I often saw larger cars crawling round them, reversing to get a better angle, etc. Then I got my X and realised there's no problem at all!

Even the doors haven't been a problem - the sensors are excellent and stop them hitting the ceiling and even in very very tight spaces (where you can barely open the drivers door) the falcon wing doors open enough to get kids in even when the ceiling is low.

On the road I've found that my driving style has changed as the Tesla suits how I like to drive much better than my previous Audi. On the road it's great, the nippiness and agility make up for not being able to squeeze into smaller gaps.

Thanks. Price difference between kwiksure quote and AXA is almost 3k while prudential is in between.

Finally after years of waiting, picked up my X today. Was quite happy with it overall except some very minor issues to be followed up (paint/chrome protruding/FWD top forward seals in poor condition or deformed). And I just can't help myself at every red light lol. Driving the X is a real pleasure. Very responsive and nice soft suspensions. You really wish they would clean/wipe/vacuum the car properly before presenting it to you though.

regarding insurance...anyone got any idea about this scenario...

say touchwood...with comprehensive coverage (car registered before 1stAPR and $0 FRT paid) and accidentally totalled. How will the 1st year one-by-one replacement plays out now with FRT in place? Any c hings asked AXA or other insurers about it?

Just digged up the AXA policy wording...to me it looks like that the max compensation will be capped by the original payment amount...which means new-for-old only to the extent limited by the original value :(

Congrats! Do you mean your car was not properly detailed / cleaned before delivering to you? How can that be?

Nope. Finger prints all around the chrome area, loose black lint from the carpet all over the ultra white seats, some muddy stains under the chassis. But I sort of got the same expectation after reading reports of the same on the forums . Not that it is the way it should be though.

Do posters here have any sense if there has been a rush to buy Tesla cars over the past couple months due to the expiring tax break?
Denmark had a similar situation end of 2015, and deliveries jumped 10-fold during December 2015!
There definitely was. According to my sales specialist Tesla had long planned a batch of pre-configured S & X without a purchase agreement shipping towards HKG for arrival and delivery before end of March (which is the deadline for the FRT waiver). Those Xs were all taken up within a day of the FRT announcement. The last time I called a week ago they still have a few Ss available for delivery before end of the month. I suppose Tesla HK will have to layoff a few people imminently...

When I bought mine I certainly did it with the intent to get in ahead of any tax change - although I ordered in 2014 so I was pretty confident!

One thing on the delivery, did anyone else take delivery with a really low battery charge? For mine there was 50km range showing when I got in! This was after sitting through the talk on how you shouldn't really let the charge get too low... We had to stick it on the super charger in the service centre for almost an hour before I could drive it home... That seemed like a really silly oversight. In the end they asked me to leave before it got to 80% because the afternoon deliveries were about to start. Other than that, it was freshly cleaned/polished and so far everything has been pretty good.
