HK: Model S Deposit date - confirmation - Sequence # - expected delivery

I paid the deposit in Apr-12, even before MS was launched, and confirmed my order around Apr-14.

It's not a Sig, just a normal production run; and I thought the deposit money (or price of the car) would be better spent on TSLA anyway...

Was told the first shipment will be for the Sigs anyway, guess that also implies regardless of #39 or upto #60(?) reservation holders will get their car in the second shipment (depending on the no. of vehicles in the 2nd shipment).

Though I'd like to thank all the Sig owners for funding the R&D on MS!

That's quite interesting, about your reservation number. I suppose here, reservation number = sequence number. All other sequence numbers I have seen so far below 100 have been Signature. Putting down deposit so early seems to get you below 100 as well.

In retrospect, the clever thing seems to have been yours - getting TSLA stock forgetting the Signature :$

I actually still believed that when the website stated in transit from factory means the car is on its way to harbor. But due to the size and labour force in HK Tesla, some cars have to sit in a big parking lot in HK and wait to be serviced before handed to customer. Anyway, Captain Kong, I am glad that you made a smart move

The reservation number is just a privilege for getting a call to confirm your order before the next order holder gets his / her call. Assuming each shipment is around 40-50 cars, there is no difference really between delivery of a particular batch of MS. So I wouldn't attach too much importance to this no.

Having said that, the Sig owners / reservation holders have really helped the company through a critical period, so hats off to them!

There are different sets of sequence number for productions and signatures. I have 2 friends who are production #5x & #9x. My sequence number was #5x before I upgraded to Signature.

My DES (Delivery Experience Specialist) called me last week to introduce himself.

He indicated that the TD/preparation period would be about 3 weeks and I should expect a September delivery.

I was looking through previous posts to remind myself when the factory shutdown was, and came across the above post. Should the table be adjusted to reflect the "official" delivery estimate Ebill got from Tesla?

The factory shutdown is said to be 10 days which means it should be until the end of this week. Cars produced next week then would be shipped out week of July 21st. As we have heard, they are budgeting 6 weeks for shipping and preparation (weeks of July 21st, 28th, August 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th). So that means after the Signature and Friends and Family shipments, the next delivery would already be in September. That ties quite nicely with the September delivery estimate Ebill got.

Greetings all. I just found this forum.

These are the details for my car:

#172 -- Newk -- September 2013 -- February 2014 -- July 2014 -- S44666 sig/85kWh/pano roof/sports seats/carbon fibre/ plus all options except cold weather.

I am very disappointed with Tesla Hong Kong's ability to communicate. Had it not been a conversation with Linda to arrange a factory visit, we wouldn't have known that delivery was pushed back a month to late July. The delivery co-ordinator rang a few days ago, when responding to my email, advising that he really had no idea of my delivery date but expected mid August.

Hopefully Hong Kong customer service will improve in the near term.

Also a welcome to the forums from this end.

What's the July 2014, production? If you like to supply more details, like seats, colour, wheels and so on, look in post #1 and tell me the updates (here or PM). I'll put you in for "mid August" delivery for now

To complete the blanks.

Car was supposed to be in production on June 16, according to Linda Han. Performance seats, signature red, 19" cyclone wheels, extended napa leather.

For info, my wall charger is supoosed to arrive today but no idea of delivery date. The silence is deafening!

The first cars have arrived in Hong Kong.

Do you recognize yours?

While good pics. thanks. Are these just coming out from HK TD, or going into HKTD?

They were only just arriving to Hong Kong. What the sequence is wrt TD and other steps to be completed before delivery - I don't know. I just thought it was nice to finally see Model S in Hong Kong, real customer cars and not just test/demo cars.

What we are looking at here will be on the roads of Hong Kong in less than three weeks.

DITB - Your estimated delivery date of 14 August is only two days later than Newk's confirmed delivery. Using Tesla time estimates as the base line, your accuracy is equivalent to atomic clock precision.

My estimation is if Newk is receiving his car in 12 August then the other family and friends (FnF) should be delivered around the same time. By my estimate Newk's car is on the boat to HK now. It would appear that Tesla confirms the delivery date once the car has a bill of lading.

For the production units following the Sigs and FnF are built before the factory shutdown this month, then we should get them late August. If these units are built after the factory shutdown, then we get them in September. The September timeframe aligns with what my DS told me. Regardless, best to keep expectations low with any time estimates. Although I wouldn't mind earlier - just need some predictability from Tesla so I can sell one of my cars, etc.

Has anyone heard of the seat upgrade referenced in the Australia forum and the applicability for HK? IIRC the Australian units would all get the new seats. With their anticipated deliveries starting in September it would seem logical all the RHD units get the new version. Hopefully Tesla production and material control is wise enough to implement version control changes for components so old stock is depleted on RHD versions.
