DITB and Ebill, any word on your cars, especially given the e-mail you received from your DS about delivery in October?
I'm curious because I had thought my car would go into production by now, but it's still "sourcing parts".
And for those who have already received their cars (e.g. Mark?), how long did it take to get from "Production Complete" to actual delivery?

Thanks!

To illustrate the process, as it is in my case, here is some correspondence. (My emphasis in the quotes below)

Congratulations on the purchase of your Model S! My name is [] and I am excited to introduce myself as your Delivery Experience Specialist. It is my goal to ensure all goes smoothly for you in this exciting time leading to ownership.

Estimated Delivery Timing

Currently, your Model S (with reservation number RN[]) is estimated to be ready around the beginning to middle of October. Please note that it is normal for delivery timing to shift as we update our production schedule and source parts to create your custom-designed Model S. As soon as I have more information, I will get back to you to schedule a delivery date.

...

Source parts? I have come to develop a negative sentiment towards those two words used next to each other, after having seen it for over 5 months.

Hi [],

There must have been a mistake here, my delivery estimate is middle of September.

My car has been produced and is currently awaiting shipment. The transport department and customs procedures have been smoothened out, so September 15th-20th should be a better estimate. I know you have burned yourself previously by giving too optimistic estimates - considering the logistic challenges, customs and the transport department. By the time my car reaches Hong Kong, the preparation process shouldn't take more than 7-10 days.

Let me know when you have a better estimate.

Thank you

Sorry, [], I was in a bad mood that day when I replied.

I apologize that the estimated delivery date on My Tesla is off due to system error.

The delivery date should [sic] around late September to beginning of October depending on the shipment. To have a buffer we usually add in an extra week to be safe.

Please kindly bear with us for the moment as we are aiming to provide a better estimate in the long term for you.

As I have been waiting around 21 months now since deposit, I have done my "long term" already. Waiting a month or two, in this respect, is short term.

In the long term, however, I am hoping future customers will receive a better flow of information from TM. That is the main weak point in the process, as I can see it. They don't need to make up more "due to" excuses, just explain it as it is, without blaming "system errors", TD, customs, car colour or anything in particular - apart from what the actual reason is. TM is still in its early years, and I hope they will live long and prosper. It would truly be in the TM and Elon Musk spirit to be more honest and straight with the delivery process.

Tally is being updated now with the information in the posts above, thank you.

Please - be sure to check when you go into production, when it changes to in transit and so on (those two won't be emailed, you have to log in and check your My Dashboard to see it). Other info, about delivery dates etc, please let me know so I can update the list in post #1.

Thank you

#236 -- AppleFan -- June 2013 -- March 2014 -- Summer 2014 -- non-sig/60kWh/pano roof/sound/tech/air/blue/black leather standard seats/parking sensors

Looking at some early posts of this thread, I think it will be a long, extended summer this year.

Yes, when I met Linda to confirm my order, she had said "August... fingers crossed for July". Hence my estimate of Summer 2014 in the second post of this thread.
Now, I'm told to expect October. I'm desperately hoping for before October 19th, as that is my first wedding anniversary. But given what you wrote above, I'm guessing around 7 October for you and another two weeks for me, i.e. around 21 October. :(

So everyone of us gets one? You said "every owner".

It's included in the price, yes, although a mobile charger is extra. Just like supercharging, it's not free, rather it's included as a one-up part of the purchase price.

I always hated that "free gift included". It's not free, it's contained in the price, but "free" sells more than "included". Try to put "free [something]" in google and see how many million hits you get.

Having said all this, I also got the wall charger confirm address email. I imagine they had a bundle of many charges sent to HK, and now they are just going through the list to make a mass shipment at once. With that, I don't think the "confirm your address for the wall charger" email is any measure of delivery date, the in production and in transit messages are MUCH more important. Check your My Dashboard daily to keep up.

My own wall charger will probably be free of charge, literally. Literally, because I probably won't be able to install it, which will make it free of charge.

Oh, that reminds me on another funny play of words. The old Tai Chi Master Chu was challenge a Kung Fu expert (or martial art style more aggressive than T'ai Chi / Taiji). The brisk youngster said "I am so fast, nothing can stop my kick". The old Master Chu told him then kick me, let's see what happens. The youngster wouldn't kick the old man but he insisted. So he kicked the fastest he could, but the old man stepped aside. This is a bit technical, if you like, but from you make a final decision to move some part of your body, there is a deadline after which it is too late to change it. Part of Tai Chi is to sense that, and this is why the old man simply stepped aside. The youngster kicked into the vast nothing, and fell to the floor, embarrassed. Indeed, nothing actually stopped his kick.

Sorry to disturb, I will go back to work now. Nothing can stop my work. Ooops!

As for me, ThomasC, my status is that I am busy with both work AND my spare time project, and I am saving my post #1000 to be when I get my own Model S. Yes, I am that silly, really. Regarding the car: Went into production August 9th, changed to "Your Model S is in transit from the factory" on August 15th I think it was. Just after it left the factory (apparently) I got the email(s) I quoted a few posts above. It's a long sail across the ocean. I just did Vancouver to Hong Kong a few days ago (where I brought the parts in I got for some TMC members who already took delivery). That takes 12:30 hours, while the boat journey is about 30 times as slow. Oh, the irony, I was two hours flight time away from my car, but I couldn't take it back home from the maternity clinic, it had to be delivered by the stork. Mind you, the sailing stork, not the flying one.

Just looked at my dashboard on 21 Aug and status changed to "in transit". Delivery listed as late September. Last time I looked at dashboard it was on 16 Aug and it status was "in production" with late September delivery. Making progress.

I received same email as Ditb regarding mid Oct delivery. So somewhere between a month to two months to go.

i suspect in production time was less than a week.

Late November is available when I ordered, but I chose Feb next year because the charger wont be available in my car park this year anyway. The building management at my estate is being fussy about it, worrying public liability and occupying public facility blah blah blah... may need to delay it further if things go bad.

In fact, are there any successful case of installing charger in property managed by MTR?

Model S well received

DITB: please note for your record that I took delivery on 8/23! And good luck with yours. From my experience, you should get yours 1.5months after the production and HK Tesla seems to be more efficient with the local TD process than when they got started (naturally). So you may be surprised pleasantly (fingers crossed)!

finally start to build!! wanna cry!

Yes, and mine as well! Looks like we're in the same batch! I'm pretty sure it was still "sourcing parts" earlier this morning HK time.
Anyway, could we please trouble DITB to update the table on post #1 to reflect our going into production on 2014-08-26? Many thanks!
