We've just had our hottest day of the year in the UK so far - probably nothing for California, but it got to 31C today which is pretty rare for us.

When I got back to my car after work and opened the door, the handle was red hot. It actually hurt slightly to open it.

As I'm sure a lot of you live in hotter places than me regularly, do you have a solution?

You can put a little felt behind the handle. Otherwise, its not something Tesla considered and is left up to our own creativity.

I am in Phoenix Az. Its hot here sometimes. often in the summer, were at 114 f (45 c). My kids and wife say its hot to open the doors too. I went to Walmart and got some industrial strength Velcro and stuck the felt side to the back side of the handle . Works great. The only thing i am worried about is the adhesive melting, but so far so good.

Thanks, was wondering about the felt side of Velcro but was worried about it making a mess if it melts/slips/... Will try to pick some up tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks!

I have the same issue in the Texas heat. My wife and in-laws could not open the door. Will be interested to see how the Velcro works...

Velcro or a couple layers of duct tape on the back side of the handle. Been good for a year here in the desert.

This 3M tape should hold up to the heat.

Um, that's double sided tape. Can only imagine what happens when the layer covering the "top" peels off and the handle gets glued to the door. :)

You own a Luxury Tesla! You're made of money. You are supposed to hire an Auto Butler or two to ride around in the third row seats (that's what they were designed for). They can open the doors for you so you don't pinch or burn your fingers AND they ensure that no smudge marks get on your shiny chrome. When you're not around, they stand guard over your car.

I got the Velcro brand 1 inch x 3 ft Industrial Strength Low Profile. Its been there about a month and has been fine. No melting or slipping.

I keep a pair of oven mits in my briefcase. I sewed Tesla logos onto them and am thinking of asking one of the aftermarket websites to sell them at $29.95. Next thought is to upgrade them to Tesla 'Performance' hot door openers (add chrome stitching) and sell them on the Tesla website for $125.

@kort677 I can't believe you Disliked my post. It was humor. Unless, I struck a chord too close to home! If I did, I apologize, I didn't know where my two new Auto Butlers pictured in the image were previously employed. I can send them back, if that will make you feel better and remove the Dislike on my post.
