I see the Ministry of Transport have just released the BEV stats for sales for Oct 2017. I’ll let you do the honours Miggy.
What I’ve tried to do here though is a summary of year on year sales, including the Transport data on used car imports. It’s pretty impressive how open and useable access is to this data Monthly electric and hybrid light vehicle tables | Ministry of Transport
I guessed at 6 for 2014 based off this thread.

Total EV fleet is at 5,300
Nissan does not sell the LEAF in NZ but other dealers import near new or ex demo ones in large numbers.

Wow 5341 EV’s in NZ. 226 used leafs imported in Oct17 alone! If AU was serious about EV’s they would allow second hand imports of EV’s now that we are not protecting local manufacturing. With the new leaf in Japan I am sure there will be plenty of second hand ones for export.
