AP2.0 (rccc) should theoretically be better @ low-light conditions - with three clear pixels for light intensity information - than AP2.5. (More clear pixels is advantageous wrt light sensitivity.)
since they apparently use the same NN between 2.0 and 2.5 right now, they probably do a super simple downsampling that just drops one pixel out of every four and they just selected the clear pixel to remain. So right now it's probably the same, but may make some relatively small difference eventually.

Blue is a weird color. The human eye detects it differently from red or green. An electronic gadget that is trying to interpret the world sees colors differently from the way we do.

For something like AP, there is no particular reason why the sensors have to detect the world like we do, but there may be some vision advantage to a sensor boosting the blue for some reason.

I have a relatively rare blue light mutation that makes living with blue and white LEDs very difficult. White LEDs are blue LEDs with a coating to spread the spectrum, but white LEDs still have a very narrow band blue spectrum spike most people don't see. It's right in the predominate spectrum color of moonlight and we have night vision detectors that kick on only in moonlight. Some of us have more than others and having those kick on in high light conditions leads to terrible eye strain.

That aside, the blue filters might have something to do with low light detection by the sensors. On the other hand, it might be correcting the sensor data to see the world as humans do because so all the human made things in the driving environment are tuned to the way humans see the world.

Got a model 3 reservation that has come do and just wondering if someone that is used to autopilot could tell me how it reacts in a few situations?
1. single lane highway and car in oncoming lane is veering into your lane where you would normally have to swerve into the shoulder?
2. single lane highway and say the car in front of you is about to hit a deer and stops very abruptly does it it stop automatically or does it just tell you to takeover?
3. single... and deer jumps into your path does slow down and hit the deer or swerve off the road?
4. 3-4 lane freeway, you're in the middle lane and someone is going the wrong direction (towards you) in the right lane? (this actually happened to me, didn't move at all try to slow down and it was over in a flash, never heard anything about it on the news or if anyone in the right lane had to swerve, or what the police could do in that situation. Great reason to look forward to people not driving cars and having great front crash protection!)

Thanks

I notice this short video yesterday which you might find interesting. It is a Model S but should be relevant to your question.

TL;Dr is that it doesn't handle any of those situations reliably. That's not what it is for. It might save you, it might not. You have to take over yourself if those things happen.

The same principle applies to ANY collision mitigation/warning system sold to consumers. Nobody advertises a crash-proof car in any situation. These features are great when they save your bacon, but one should never become so overconfident as to rely on cars automatically avoiding collisions without human attentiveness… at least until true higher levels of autonomy hit the road.

Almost makes a person wish for some of @buttershrimp ’s collection. Almost. (?)
Almost makes a film maker want to dust off the go pro... Almost. Much like Michael Jordan after his 6th championship, Buttershrimp took a break from the game of basketball/gopro.... comforted by the warm embrace of his 89 subscribers.... as they anxiously await a comeback as a Washington Wizard, does he still have it? You're F-ing right he's still got it..... don't make him lace up and dunk on all ya'll .....

Don’t call it a comeback.
