Ha. I'm having fun getting ulcers.
So, the SO and I had two Teslas, one on her account, one on mine. Last week, pulled the trigger: Wanted to buy a new M3 to replace the M3 that was on my account, transfer FSD, and possibly get the referral credit.
Tricky bit: The M3, on my account, was registered in the SO's name.
So, walked into the Springfield, NJ office. Told the car we wanted the car in inventory in NJ that met our needs, wanted to transfer FSD, and wanted the new registration to have both our names on it, something we should have done long ago.
So: Which account buys the car? The sales rep said, "The SO's account." In 20-20 hindsight, that turns out to be actually incorrect. It should have been my account, which had the original M3 purchase in it.
About mid-week, realized that this was the case with no FSD transfer apparent. Called Tesla, spent most of a day thinking that the whole business would be cancelled. Showed up at the Paramus, NJ SC at the scheduled delivery time and explained the situation; note, this was 9/28.
Delivery specialist went into overdrive. We were there for two hours, correcting problems generated by another Tesla rep we had talked to over the phone earlier in the week. (This included, "merging" the SO's existing account to an email address That Didn't Exist. It turned out that, even if it didn't exist, we were able to create an account with the email provider that had the non-existent name. Fun.)
Took possession of the car and traded in the old one to Tesla. Delivery specialist swore that the FSD transfer would take place, but, "It might take a month for it to work."
By Friday we had the correct email addresses. We spoke with the delivery specialist again on Friday, since the idea of losing $12k of FSD on this is a bit much to countenance. She sent us an email with a document stating that the transfer would take place. Whee.
I'm running around with FSD-b 11.3.7, which came with the car, good enough. It expires 10/28. And am really, really hoping that the delivery specialist (whose name is emblazoned around here) comes through.
