Is disabling battery preconditioning now supported?

On a road trip last week, I noticed that when a Supercharger site is the next stop and battery preconditioning is happening, I can now touch the preconditioning message on the screen and it disappears. However when I watch the energy display after doing this, there is still power being consumed indicated in the preconditioning bucket. (Percentage continues to increase.) So I'm wondering if one of the following are happening, or possibly something else:

1.) It just eliminates the message, but preconditioning is still happening. Just clearing up a bit of screen space. Or,

2.) It actually does turn preconditioning off, but then has to expend additional energy to actively cool the pack back down.

Old style pre-heat pump Model 3.

I can understand howTesla might not want to let you disable preconditioning. If you do, you'll spend more time Supercharging and tie up the stall for longer time.
Just conjecture. I have no data or info to support or refute.
