I have to say that my S60 was perfect when I picked it up at the Orlando SC 6 weeks ago, and after 6 weeks of ownership there is nothing that requires any attention by Tesla.

Interested in your delivery experience at Orlando. I qualify for free home delivery but decided to take delivery there since threads like these keep popping up…just interested in your experience. I really want a swag bag, hahaha.

Do you have pics that you don't mind sharing. I have a couple of issues on my recent delivery, but I may just be overly critical. I'll probably get them resolved when I get a paint coating/tint done but it was irritating that it wasn't perfect.
We confirmed our ms75d on July 5th and plan to pick up in Fremont, as well. Would you please elaborate on the issues you encountered with your vehicle? Was your delivery specialist helpful?
Thanks so much!

Steve, make sure you are subscribed to evmote or one of the similar apps.
This can tell you where your car is (as can the Tesla app), but also show you a log of the journeys it has been on.
not costly and very effective.
You could also hint to the SC that as it is such a new vehicle you will be keeping a close eye on it and they might want to mention this to the bodyshop too ;-)

Thanks for posting the pictures, it puts this into perspective.

..personally, I wouldn't even have noticed the items you did.

What I would do is run water over the sunroof to make sure the gasket is not a leakage issue. If it didn't leak, I would do nothing about any of these observations. But that's my tolerance level, not yours.

On my delivery, I noticed humidity captured ("fog") in the backup light lens. I did mention that. And it was later addressed with a re-application of the trim with sealant. But this item is a losing battle to the point where Tesla has redesigned that part and took out the lens than previously would fog up.

The moment of delivery and acceptance is an important one. It is the point in time where you sign off that you have accepted the car. So if you do have gripes, get them written down on the same piece of paper where your signature goes, and put words like "on the condition of acceptable repair of damage noted:" then your list.

My car was delivered by covered truck to my home. The delivery guy was ultra paranoid during off-ramping and anything touching the car. They probably even had video cams recording it from a couple different POV's. But since it was a carrier and not Tesla doing the delivery, my next step was to inform Tesla about any pending accepting conditions noted. (Fog in lens).

You can bet one of the first things Tesla is going to do is determine if the carrier should be paying for any of it. Tie down marks, side scrapes, etc.. signs of carrier damage... that carrier will be paying Tesla for repairs needed. The delivery guy said, "no worries, we're bonded for $2M per car". And if they made a habit of shitty deliveries... Tesla would not be using them. Nor Bentley, the other car in the truck.

For a factory pickup, which makes all kinds of sense not only because of the tour, which can be done anytime by owners and their guests, but because it remove a potential point of failure - that being the delivery/transport process.

Recommend scheduling the delivery paperwork and initial walkaround for first thing in the morning, and the tour an hour after that. Why? There won't be time for a full orientation but there will be time to ensure the paperwork is fine and that anything major is noticed with the car. It happens. Then you can ask them to a) top off the car at the adjacent SC while you take the tour, and b) can finish up the walkthrough and orientation after the tour. In my case, this involved the completion of a due bill and a visit to their onsite SvC as well. You don't want to be rushed for that. Altogether from end to end it was a full morning.

Following up with your DS in the weeks after delivery for specific delivery-related problems can help considerably, since you will quickly find that pretty much everything (from the most basic follow-ups to complex concerns) ends up on the already full plate of whichever SvC you've chosen as "local".

Also be sure to check yer MyTesla periodically for the necessary documents for any applicable DMV, state or federal requirements.

Good luck and enjoy.

I am a complete Tesla fanboy. But this is unbelievable and totally unacceptable. I cannot believe this is still going on. I got mine almost two years ago and had none of the problems. The paint did need a buff because there were a few superficial scratches from sloppy handling in delivering the car to my house. But that was it. I was having it polished and sealed the next day so I really didn't care. Per @Macbest, I would expect flawless delivery on ANY new car that I was buying, regardless of price.

Tesla, please hear this from a shareholder: Get your delivery act together. It's not that hard and it is your duty to your customers and shareholders to deliver the best product that you can, in every aspect. I know you have the ability because I have seen it.

If you do not, once the novelty of Tesla wears off, you'll be screwed by the competition.

Got my car back from the service center. The car was not transported to a body shop (not comfortable with that yet), but they resolved mostly everything + more I called in about while it was away.
  1. Windshield wiper unit was touching the windshield and causing a screeching sound. FIXED
  2. Side view mirror no longer making noise, could not reproduce. Thinking I knocked out whatever it was causing this on the wash on Saturday.
  3. Hood aligned. FIXED (it was actually not the hood. The front bumper was mis-aligned and it looks great now)
  4. Panoramic weatherstripping is normal, did not do anything on this.
  5. Steering wheel abrasions repaired. FIXED (surprised they were able to do this without me noticing a difference in the wheel)
Now, the visit raised a concern but not sure how I feel about it. The car was driven 11 miles, but I assume this was for a test drive since they check tire pressure each visit? Not sure on this. I assumed my car would not leave the service center.

The unplugged my Blackvue camera, and didn't plug it back in. When I checked video history, it seems as if they pulled my SD card and deleted footage. Not sure how I feel about that. I talked to the rep and she said they normally pull the plug on the camera for security, confidentiality, and concerns that the techs would leak information that is still not released.

I don't really care that they unplugged the camera, but I was concerned that they may have looked at the SD card and deleted footage. I'm only speculating that they did this though - the last video is the rep driving the car halfway into the service center and then it's blank afterwards. I assumed I'd find a video of at least someone unplugging the camera or something.

They probably drove the car at speed to check for wind noise around the complaint points you brought up. Any realignment of body panels, mirrors, sunroof... they'll probably want to drive on a hiway to check for whistles, buffeting, roars... you name it. They may have even sprayed your car with water for 10 minutes at various angles on the sunroof to check for leakage.

There's no footage recorded because the unplug is the first thing they do. Nobody would go in and delete files from the car, who has time for that?

You have to trust SC with driving your car, it's a necessary part of repair process. Tesla is good with their babies, even after delivery. I have not encountered a monkey yet. Plus, if you're working on Tesla's all day, there is no "joy" or need to go joy riding in these cars... they've had their fill.

The last ranger visit I had, we discussed test drives, and the ranger said the worst drives they must do are after a drive unit replacement, they MUST seat the units with a few full power launches and decel's. So if you see energy consumption curves hitting the ceiling for 3 or 4 humps in a row after picking up the car after drive line work... it's actually protocol they do it. He said it's "no fun" and can only do about 3 such runs in a day before starting to feel physically ill. That was before Ludicrous. So they may share out that duty.

Thank you for the list!

Crossing my fingers (basically) nothing is wrong with our baby at pickup from Fremont....

Has anyone else noticed anything else substantially wrong at delivery - anything else I should add to my to-check list? My car has entered prod - so the date is nearing :)

Requires some perspective; how long did it take Ford to get it "right"? Have they?
They sent the check back while "Government Motors" readily accepted it during the Crisis. That resonated with me. I've never bought Ford, but they seem to have it together more than most. Chrysler needing Daimler help, VW's emissions scandal, Toyota's brake issues, are just a few that come to mind. Plus, they have the least annoying spokesman, Mike Rowe. He's actually funny in his sarcastic overtones.

This isn't a takeaway from Tesla at all, I just thought I'd toss the unbiased .2¢ in since I saw you mention Ford :)

Wasn't looking for complaint fodder @aaron0k - simply tips from those who already picked up in Fremont! I think most of us are extremely grateful and thankful for our ability to even think about purchasing a Tesla - I certainly can speak for myself.

So thanks to the poster above for the list ...... does anyone else have any (actual) suggestions/tips to add to my list for the last minute quality check before we drive off with our new baby?

  1. Windshield wiper unit was touching the windshield and causing a screeching sound.
  2. Side view mirror noise
  3. Hood alignment or front bumper alignment
  4. Panoramic weatherstripping - double check
  5. Steering wheel abrasions
