Hi everyone!

First post here, though I've lurked for a while. I just purchased a 2017 P100D (34,000 miles) for $74,000. I held out for a long time until the right car (color, rims, specs, everything) showed up. The car is coming off of a lease. Here are the full specs:

  • 100D Ludicrous Performance
  • Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive
  • Model S Long Range
  • Pearl White Multi-Coat Paint
  • Sunroof
  • 21" Grey Turbine Wheels
  • Black Leather Tesla Premium Seats
  • Dark Ash Wood Décor
  • Black Headliner
  • Ludicrous Mode
  • Carbon Fiber Spoiler
  • Red Brake Calipers
  • Free Unlimited Supercharging
  • Power and Lighting Package
  • Full Self-Driving Capability
  • Full Self-Driving Capability
  • Premium Upgrades Package
  • Smart Air Suspension
  • Ultra High Fidelity Sound
  • Subzero Weather Package
  • No Third Row Seat
I ordered it on 5/28. Financing and everything is approved. Only correspondence I've received from Tesla is that it will arrive in 2-3 weeks (which feels like an eternity). I'm hoping they'll send me an e-mail when it's headed this way, but who knows.

Anyways, I don't have a lot of people to share the excitement with, so I wanted to share it here. Happy to be a part of the club!

Good job learning about the car and holding out for what you wanted. People often make mistakes on used Teslas when they don’t understand the options, differences by manufacture date, and what to look for. Now you get to enjoy the anticipation and prepare for delivery. I suggest taking your time on the inspection and making a detailed list of issues. You will need to decide which ones to have fixed and which ones to accept. Hopefully the list will be small. Enjoy your Model S!

Welcome to the club! And by that I mean the people waiting on getting the Tesla they ordered!! :p

Purchased a Model S though the Tesla site on May 5th. Someone contacted me within 24 hours to tell me that the car had to be paid for in 48 or it gets 'released'. Also that it needed insurance before it was shipped. Then texts came in from a different person (maybe automated?) that gave me an ETA. The ETA was several days off even after an initial change. Once it arrived at my center, the 'My Tesla' website showed a delivery date but that has changed several times as well. Since then I have been told that it is just a placeholder and that until I actually receive a confirmation call from a delivery specialist that the date is just an estimate. Car has been at my SC since the 22nd of May. I am told the reason the delivery is changing is that since I bought it with FSD that they are upgrading the HW2 computer to HW3. Current online date shows this Wednesday, the third, but no call yet verifying I am getting it yet.

The good news is I have seen the car. Mine came off a lease as well and is in very good shape for 46k miles.

This is my first Tesla and the wait is... Very frustrating... First world problems I guess........ I wish you good luck!!!!!!

That makes me nervous. I hope you get it this Wednesday!

They haven't asked for anything from me at this point. I have a request for insurance screen online but the person that emailed me said I do not have to supply that until I receive a delivery notification. I wish they were more communicative.

It is what it is ! I had my brand new MSP on a carrier drive up to my driveway (I used home delivery) without notice. Hopefully you are using a dealer delivery. My MSP was shipped using an open carrier on front and the front bumper was totally covered in bugs and debris. I really like the MSP in what limited time I have drove it. Going to try Ludicrous + mode one of these days...

Enjoy. Our MSP "Raven" drives like a dream.

ETA is the 13th.

Any updates?

Mine was almost exactly a month from ordering to taking delivery. But I got it!! The P100 is awesome and I'm glad I got it for the range and the acceleration. Ordered 5/5 picked up 6/4. Hope you get yours soon! Waiting sucked but it is definitely worth it!

Congrats!! I'm so jealous of you :)

No big updates for me. I got a text saying it was shipping and will arrive on the 15th, which didn't seem like a guarantee by any means. My Tesla rep emailed me a couple days before the text saying ETA is the 13th, but not holding my breath for it coming early.

Radio silence otherwise. Online portal hasn't changed...still asking about insurance and says they're drafting up a contract for payment.

Paid for as in the 100 dollar deposit? Or paid for completely?
Never heard of having to fully pay for the car before seeing it in person, let alone having your own insurance cover it during transport.

In following the instructions for filling out documents, the "next steps" asks me to pay for the car before pickup. But my sales advisor says I can pay with a personal check when I pick it up. Different states are different. I am in Florida. The car was in Sarasota and I am waiting for it to be shipped to Palm Beach. There is no pickup date yet.

Good catch. So much happened so fast I got a little ahead of myself when typing that.

So the 100 dollar deposit was already paid and that started the clock, the 48 hours was to 'secure financing'. Which I was planning on using Tesla, but.... Not in Texas from what I was told. I don't know if my insurance would have been used to cover during transport (doesn't the transport company have insurance?) but am 100% sure I was told I needed proof of insurance on the Tesla before they would ship the car. I went to see the car before it was ready for pickup. I did get a text that the car needed to paid in full before they would schedule delivery so it is very possible that I would have paid in full without seeing the car if I hadn't been proactive. Different car buying experience for sure LOL!

Picked up my demo model s with 500 miles last Sunday. Car was perfect with gorgeous red multicoat paint and black and white seats. It is a long range plus made on February 26. I just got the latest software update but car still shows it would get 391 miles on a full charge, not the new 401. There was not a lot of support from the delivery person at the new clean Palm Beach service center. It took 2 days for the car to show up on the Tesla app. This is a computer with wheels and it will take a lot of experiments to figure it all out. I search on the internet when the manual isn't detailed enough. I now look for opportunities to go for drives. Great car.
