Key No Longer Inside - Car Will Not Restart. Anyone else getting this error message? Happens almost every time I get in the car and hit the pedal to start the car. Key fob is always in my pocket.
Happens to us just about every time we hop in. Freaked me out at first since I didn't notice it until I got to the Post Office and was about to get out.
This started to occur only after the last update. They might have done something to the range of the key fob? The doors don't unlock until I'm right against it. Often times, I have to press the handles more than once to open the doors now.
My SC just installed this version on the X (just got the update on my phone). I would have asked them to hold off had I read this thread ahead of time! Oh well, it's always fun to be part of a club, even if it's the "locked out club".
Me too. I took an extra key fob and batteries with me, just in case, but it appears to have been caused by a software bug rather than a real fob issue (based on the sudden prevalence).
You can hold down the voice command button and say "Report <your bug report>" and it will get to Tesla. Or, if you prefer a more traditional method, you can email [email protected].
Also, the car does not recognize the key at all as I approach - I cannot unplug the charger without opening the driver door first to activate the key recognition. Even so, it still says "key not detected" as I put it in gear.
All the time .... my X was at the SC and they said they couldn't reproduce the problem yet it happened again in my parking lot when the X was delivered back from the SC. Putting the fob in the upholder and waiting about 30 seconds usually fixes the issue but it's annoying - hope I never have to make a fast getaway....
I just got my X 4 days ago and the new download that night. I called Tesla service when this appeared as I tried to leave work. They said to try a new battery. Had a co-worker take me down the street to buy some batteries. Still didn't work, but I pressed the accelerator and it worked. Whew! happens every time. I'll talk to them thur for my due bill stuff.
