Lasers to replace windshield wipers?

Has anyone heard about this? Apparently, Tesla is planning on replacing their windshield wipers with lasers that will "irradiate" any debris that lands on the windshield. I would love to see a demonstration of this technology. If you look closely at the patent, it appears that the real reason for this concept is for the cameras on the car to enable FSD in any weather and keep the cameras clear. Pretty ingenious if you ask me!
