Considering a deferral, somewhat concerned however, that the $7500 vehicle rebate will be nixed if Mssrs. Romney and Ryan convince the sheeple in November.
Hope to take a test drive next month, hope to get an update on the new red paint color availability.

Need to clarify the $4k Illinois rebate, which requires the bill of sale be from "an Illinois dealership".

Is Tesla registered as dealerships in states they have stores/service???

The possible loss of the $7500 tax credit has also been weighing heavily on my mind. At this point all I can do is keep my fingers crossed that I get my car this year or that they don't get rid of the credit next year. I've finalized so it's too late to get off this train. :O)

Last week my rep informed me that Tesla plans to have a service center in Hawaii by year end. I straight away emailed George Blankenship requesting confirmation after I received my notice to build yesterday (#2993). Despite his enormous work load and busy schedule George emailed me back within minutes confirming that they are planning to open a service center in Hawaii by the end of the year. What exceptional service! I immediately configured my car on line:

60 kwh -- allows 30% degradation and still gets me everywhere and back from the North Shore. If I lived just a little closer to Honolulu I'd have gone with the 40 kwh.
Silver -- shows dirt least and its lower cleaning maintenance will give me the least TCO over time
Pano roof -- maximizes rear seat head room
Parcel shelf -- deters cargo area theft
Everything else standard. I will retrofit Opportunity Console option(s) when available.

Estimated delivery "Early 2013." As we say here, I'm stoked! Thanks Tesla for taking care of your customers in the islands!

Congrats, ddruz. I think yours will be one of the first cars without tech pkg or air suspension, and it will be good to hear your impressions. I'm quite sure they will still be very positive!

Then Illinois is golden!!!!

chmod - I talked to a Tesla specialist today, questioning compliance with the Illinois $4k rebate - he had to call me back and confirm that Illinois purchases would be indicated as bought from an Illinois dealer/dealership and therefore qualify for the $4k. Probably wouldn't hurt to notate and underline that when finalizing your order, completing documents. This might help me jump up from the 40 to 60kwh, now to decide between white body paint or?

Good luck Liz! I think your bold quick finalization will most likely get you your vehicle by December.

I am curious to hear if the standard sound system is any good. So far, haven't all the cars been equipped with the upgraded sound package?

Yes. None of the reps that I spoke to at the Palo Alto event last weekend had heard the standard system and were pretty sure that no car seen thus far had been equipped with that. I'm hoping that it's going to be good enough as I've finalized without the premium system.

Accountants chime in...Could it be that Tesla is taking orders in 2012 well ahead of production to help people claim the credit. If you have made (2) $5,000 payments then can you claim you have 'acquired' the vehicle?

Nope. The IRS needs you to put the car in actual service (after registering with the DMV) in 2012 to claim the credit.

Loved your test drive review over on the Austin thread btw!

To get back to this thread about Latest "Finalize Your Order" date : I am P600 and signed my MVPA on 8/3/12. That MVPA showed a Nov 2012 delivery. Today I added Sound Studio Pkg. and had to redo the MVPA. Now I show a Nov/Dec 2012 delivery. I was assured by the Tesla advisor that my place in line had not changed and the delay in delivery is due to a slow down in production for quality control. Anyone else had their delivery date changed?

Super Gizmo,

Was your first MVPA auto generated by the system? Mine was generated by the system on 7/19 and signed by Tesla on 7/20. It said then, and still says now delivery Nov/Dec 2012. Given I was a couple of weeks ahead of you it's very curious that you feel your date has changed when mine hasn't. Perhaps they were working the kinks out of the delivery date auto-generation system.

If Tesla didn't continue at a brisk pace to finalize orders, then we would hear a group of pessimists saying , "See, they never were serious about producing 5000 cars by year-end." Its really simple, to produce 5000 cars you have to have 5000 cars finalized. In setting up a serious ramp up in production its obviously better to collect this ordering information sooner rather than later.

BINGO!!

I wish that ddruz (P#2993) was being told December 2012 instead of Early 2013. If 2993 gets delivered in Early 2013 then Tesla is not delivering 5,000 cars in 2012.

Really hoping Tesla is under promising and plans to over deliver a nice Christmas surprise to ddruz.

Can't really do it the other way around where you tell someone to expect it by Christmas and then ruin their Christmas by telling them "sorry - not going to be there in time."

Peter, Both my first MVPA and the second one today were done on the phone with an advisor. So. no they were not auto-generated. I received my "Build your Tesla" email on 7/26/12 so I was still within the 30 day period to order the car without losing my spot.

WhiteKnight, remember I'm not getting the air suspension. Tesla has been clear that the standard suspension won't be put into production till January at the earliest. The fact that my delivery is listed as "Early 2013" is therefore great from where I sit. It doesn't necessarily mean Tesla will miss 5000 cars delivered in 2012.

It looks like from posts here that people are seeing current versions of their MVPA (same as prepurchase agreement?) online. My prepurchase agreement was signed on August 7th, and I saved the email.
However, I don't see anywhere in "My Garage" to bring up a "current version" of it. Also, there is no mention of an expected delivery date in the agreement. The only time I ever saw that was when I went to Finalize.
I see no delivery date anywhere now. ???
