I orderd the car on 03/31/2013 the same day as ELON's announcement and did sign the paper work the next day, but no updates for few days. Out of curiosity i called them and they said according to new policies that went in to effect from 04-01-2013 there is no paper work needed and i have 2 week window until 04-18-2013 to change the configuration which i dont need and on 04-21-2013 they took my order and changed the status after calling twice. Thats a poor follow up for a company that is fairly new and the customer service sucks. Till date there is not even one reply to my emails.
i am scared now how can the service for this car be when i buy a 8 year service plan.
but according to this thread most of them are suggesting a 8 year if you are going to hang on for the car for long time or if you are a frequent traveller.
may be i will go with that too.

Hi vbandl01,
I understand your frusturations about Tesla's customer service. I had to deal with quite a bit of it myself (you can read all about it in a review/blog post I'll do within the next week). But I got my car this past weekend, and I must say, if you hang in there, and be a bit proactive and deal with the customer service troubles, the car and the ride more than reward you for your troubles. It is absolutely amazing car to drive (even better than what you experienced during your test drive, if you had one, as they have worked out a lot of the early production kinks). I know it can be a bit painful to deal with the un-responsiveness of Tesla employees at times, but they are on the whole, very nice and try to accommodate your requests. I hope you stick in there for the next couple of weeks to months, and don't cancel your order. It is worth the wait!

hi hershey101

Thx for your advice, i really appreciate your time and attention and i felt really good , its only because of people like you still tesla is racing to top position because you are honest in your opinion.
I hope everything goes smooth after i get the car. but my intention is to just let them know so someone out there in the company will pay some attention to customer service.
i will post more of my experiences with TESLA as the car gets delivered..

Hey vbandl01,
No problem. I'm usually pretty busy during the day, so I don't get a chance to really post on the forms as much as I would like to. However, if you have any questions or concerns or just want to talk you can always send me a PM (it goes to my email so I'll respond more quickly). Also, I notice your in NJ, I'm from LI and I might try to get a meeting with other owners from NY/NJ area soon (next month or so) nearby. So keep checking the forms about that if you want to join.

Just finalized my order today. States: The Tesla factory is building your Model S. I've ordered a standard 85, silver/black/obeche wood gloss with tech, pano, sound upgrade, air suspension. This will be Model S #2. We love the first one so much, it was hard to choose anything else now that we need another car. Never bought two of the same car before. The other is a 60, blk/blk/piano, with the same options as above, plus supercharger, which is included in the 85. We waited approx. 2.5 years for the first one. It's nice they're moving relatively quickly now. Don't have a window yet for delivery.

Today I received the Finalize button for my Tesla Model S 85kWh #411 (Belgium). I feel very excited and happy like a 10 year old receiving an iPad on 4 wheels ;-) Today is a great day. Thanks Elon & the Tesla team.
Ordered Tesla Model S 40kWh: 18 July 2011 (4.000 EUR deposit)
Upgraded to 85kWh: 18 December 2011
Finalized Tesla Model S today: 14 May 2013
Estimated delivery: October-November 2013

Here's an overview of the Finalisation process (Screenshots):

Hello!
We received our Status update on 17 May: The Tesla factory is building your Model S. How long has it taken for others to (recently, that is) go from this status to receiving your finalize button? How about getting a delivery specialist assigned? Our delivery window is "Late June".

I know that compared to those who waited years for delivery that a couple of months is a drop in the bucket, but man, the Model S has invaded my dreams...

Thanks!

Lew

I finalized my order at the end of April and it took about two weeks to get the delivry button on my dashboard. After that I was given a three week window in June for delivey. there is a delivry address in the mail you get, a product specialist will help with your initial questions and then hand you off to the delivery specialist at the appropriate time.

Took the plunge this week. Have been eyeing an S since the Motor Trend Car of the Year, but was unwilling to seriously consider it due to the cos. financial condition. Well after last weeks earnings/sales numbers and the billion dollar capital raise, I got comfortable that TM will be around for the life of my car and arranged for a showroom visit/test drive. WOW!!! Certainly the fastest/most powerful car I have ever driven--- the most high tech too (I am a gadget freak). I took along one of my gear head buddies and he was suitably impressed too.

I ordered my new car right in the show room and told them I don't need two weeks to make up my mind. The website says the factory is building my car and when I ordered they said to expect a late June delivery. Can't wait.

New meaning for EOL, I always thought End of Line was a factory term. In my case it apparently means, it's here! In town!

They have it scheduled for detailing, and otherwise on track for tomorrow 9am!
I just got done paying online... can I just go down and get it now?!?!? I'll detail it. :) whooot!!!!

EDIT: after early false alarm for yesterday... we're back on for today. Picking her up in an hour! :) :) :)

I'm taking delivery on the 7th as well at the factory at 2pm.

When you say the app is enabled in your sign, does the car show up? Mine still doesn't...

NEVERMIND! Had to log out and log back in to the app and now it shows up!

This has seemed like a pretty quick process for me! Ordered on 05/25, finalized in store on 05/27, Delivery Button 06/03 with a Delivery Window of 06/21-07/05. Still waiting on responses from Tesla regarding paying the downpayment in advance (for the purposes of financing through my credit union). To top it all off, come to find out the Service/Delivery center is in the same parking lot as where I work (I'm a private drum teacher)!

Dangit....just finding out today (from this post) that I could do that. I ordered and put a down payment down on 5/27 with the order going to factory on the 9th of June. I even asked my sales advisor why there is a wait on the order....he gave me no good answer. I would have finalized my order the same day.

I was told that the car could be ready for delivery in the beginning of July. I called Tesla just a moment ago and found out that once my order is confirmed (deposit goes non-refundable) that I'll be on a 2-3 month wait. That puts delivery at the earliest in August and the latest in end of September. For a Chicago owner, that means I miss road construction season, but then roll right into snow season. I'd much rather have gotten the car in beginning of June. Silver lining: More time to save and pinch pennies.

Just in case of curiosity, here's what I've ordered: P85+, black on black, gloss obeche, pano, silver wheels, tech pack., sound pack., hpwc, sc, twin charger, cf spoiler. Left off the jump seats and the parcel shelf, and the paint armor.

I was told that delivery date depends on the set of options you pick. They make the Model S in batches with similar option sets. If you pick a Model S with a set of options that is common, your date is sooner. If you pick something with a set of options that is uncommon, your date can be on the outer fringe.

I just took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and called to finalize after reserving on Friday.

I'm so excited. I've been frugal my whole life and have never let myself make this kind of purchase. I've always scrimped and saved - worn my jeans until they were falling apart, picked the generic brand at the grocery store, driven to the other side of an intersection to save 1c/gal on gas - but the Model S absolutely blows me away. It was love at first sight six weeks ago and Friday's test drive was incredible. There's no way I could do the "correct" thing and go haggle over a three-year-old Camry after experiencing what this vehicle has to offer.

I can hardly wait.
