Hey, All,

I've been shopping around for insurance (Model 3) and there's been some crazy quotes. But there's this one (State Farm) - it's middle range. Can you give me your opinion?

Bodily Injury: 100K / 300K total
Property Damage: 100K
Comprehensive: 1K deductible
Collision: 1 k deductible
Age: Wife and I in late 40s. Live in NY

Quote: $248 / month $2,968 annually

Seems a little high but I've had much worse presented to me.

What are you paying?

I have 250/500k coverage with a 500 deductible and pay $85/month through progressive on a 18’ LR RWD M3. 37 male.

I've been quoted for a SR+ from Progressive (who I've been with for about 3 years, previously insured for 10+ years by State Farm).

Liability: $100k/$300k/$100k
Underinsured Motorist BI: $100k/$300k
Underinsured Motorist PD: $50k ($100 deductible/$300 deductible hit & run)
Comprehensive: $500 deductible ($0 deductible glass)
Collision: $250 deductible
Rental: $60/day ($1800 max)
Loan/Lease Payoff: Yes

Washington State, male, 33 years old, only one on policy.

$84.19/month or $455/6 months

Now I'm worried this is "too good" of a deal... should any of those be bumped up a bit? I'm fine with a $500 deductible but with the amount of glass on the car thought $0 deductible would be worth while on that. The rental is the max progressive offers and I figure the underinsured motorist property damage of $50k is probably the max I need because above that the vehicle would obviously just be a write off, right?

I think if the vehicle is a write off in an underinsured situation, the max the policy will pay is the $50K for property damage. So as long as your car is worth less than $50k you are good.

For the sake of comparison, there are three other vehicles on this policy. This is just the Tesla's component, which includes various discounts. The whole policy is just under $1,300 per six months.

And for what it's worth the Tesla's component is $45 less than our 2014 Cadillac ELR.

I was going to say, I think the Tesla is going to be a little less then my 2017 Volt when same coverage is applied... Progressive has been really competitive right now, hopefully it stays that way!

I’m with Progressive, but don’t see any glass deductible in my policy. My pricing is utterly insane for my 2019 3P+, so I’m not complaining.

This is for two adults, both 38, in Seattle. State Farm was over double, so I finally left them after 17 years of service from them.

I’m paying $466 every 6 months ($77.66 per month).
