I fully expect the charging hardware will be identical to that for X and S. The plug will be the same, or they wouldn't be able to Supercharge. There's no reason to change anything else.

I do wonder if Tesla will eventually embed more of the control and signalling capabilities currently in the CHAdeMO adaptor into their internal charging system design. This would potentially reduce the complexity of the external adaptor.

There are some obvious ways to do this, namely, segmenting the signalling pins (the ones that don't take the full power during charging) so that the normal J1772 and Tesla adaptor needs no change, yet a revised (and simpler) CHAdeMO adaptor would then map the larger set of signalling pins for the adaptor into the smaller set of pins for the Tesla onboard car receptacle/connector.

Example:

existing ping is a solid
O

proposed pin is two semi-circular contacts with a gap
()
^ here the onboard pin on the car is segmented into two "half" pins, with a gap

This would allow an adaptor to map 2 pins from the CHAdeMO specification connector on to a single connecting pin on the car. Then the adaptor doesn't need the electronics to "convert" the specification electrical negotiation, this work can be done by the onboard car charger electronics, making the external adaptor simpler.

Just a thought.
