So I thought i would post in case this helps anyone having trouble getting dashcam set up with a new SD card/ hard drive.

I bought this storage solution:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07855LJ99/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item

Setting up dashcam and sentry mode should have been easy i thought... very clear instructions from this site...

How to Setup Tesla DashCam and Sentry Mode - Pure Tesla

On windows you need to use a 3rd party app to format a drive this size so I used GUIformat

Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd

Which seemed to work OK... FAT32 file system confirmed and my TeslaCam folder in place.

However.... after multiple attempts repeating the process/ trying quick then slow formats.... the car would never recognise the disk!

I don't know why!

Anyway... as a last ditch I used another utility to format the disk just in case... and it worked!

Download from here:

https://www.rmprepusb.com/documents/rmprepusb-beta-versions

Set the disk to be non bootable and max partition then press prepare disc.

This worked first time and I now have functioning file storage.

Great feature!

Umm - yes.

It is a bit frustrating that microsoft are chosing to make life difficult for us PC users :)

Still... you have probably paid a LOT more money for your equivalent CPU speed / memory / GFX power than me.. so it is all good!
I know what you mean. I paid almost £2k for my iMac. But it is five years old now, and it still boots up in less than 20 seconds.

I used PCs at home and work between 1984 and 2015, but I’ve never regretted swapping to Mac. It just works!

Please keep people up to date re long term reliability. All in one USB sticks such as that linked do not have a good reputation for long term reliability - thats the reason why many go for SD/MicroSD (especially 'Endurance' cards) or potentially better SSD based solutions - they are more robust when continuously being written to.

Ah OK - I wasn't aware of an issue.

So far so good reviewing dash cam footage tonight.

Going to test sentry tomorrow.

When viewing clips, I found this cross platform website to be very useful - no data is uploaded to any websites so even works offline.

TeslaCam Video WebApp Player

For some reason that site isnt working for me...

I have been using this...

Tesla Sentry Cam Software, Sentry Keeper, Tesla Sentry, Sentry Monitor

Clunky - but cool seeing all 4 streams at once.

EDIT - fot the web app to work... but only in IE - chrome not playing ball. Sentry keeper is maybe better in that it lets you create a merged video file to save?

Thank you so much I couldn't get the car to recognise the microSD until I tried your fix!
