No text, but I did get an email from my delivery experience specialist on Friday that said: "I do not have an exact date – however it may be early September. Please check back in next week."

They really need to fix that 2-week estimate. It's concerning that a company promising something lik FSD can't forecast something that is almost entirely in their control.

My order placed on 8/12:
LR M3 grey w/black, 18 inch wheels

No test, but on Friday I received an email saying:

...Also, we will be receiving a VIN number for your vehicle very soon, and at that point we can schedule the delivery date accordingly

As soon as we receive a VIN number, I will provide that to you - this can sometimes take 2 weeks or longer.

So I'm guessing, my order is delayed by 2 weeks too: "2 weeks or longer" sounds suspicious.

It seems to depends on configuration. SR+ in black was almost immediately available in the northeast. I got white and I got the VIN in a week and initial schedule is just under 2 weeks. I had to delay my delivery by a day. I can't wait.

Still nothing for me. Called them 4 days ago and they said "any day now". However, my wife will be gone next week and I'll be gone the next. Since we both have to be present at delivery that means another 2 week wait even if the car is ready. And I won't be able to take it on my road trip like I had hoped. Pretty disappointed right now.

Looks like I'm out of the club. Five weeks from order date and no communication from Tesla. Good luck to you guys and enjoy your rides. I'll be watching from the sidelines since I cancelled my order this morning.

I got tired of waiting for a AWD white with black interior and i noticed a lot of black with white interiors listed as new inventory in southern California so I called and switched my order and was matched to a VIN within 24hours. I get to take delivery on 8/31.

Best bet for those wanting to get a car faster is to keep searching the new available inventory across the US and then if you see something you like make a call and have them bind the VIN to your order. Maybe I got lucky and it wont work as easily for others but it seemed to be pretty simple. No extra destination charge is being added, not sure if its because the car i wanted was in a neighboring state?

@homestead_j - good for you. This is exactly what I did over the weekend... I was lucky enough to locate the same car I ordered in existing inventory - white exterior / black interior model 3 performance. I take deliver tomorrow. Going to be tough sleeping tonight.

I called my local tesla agent (Marina del rey, CA) left a message. Received an email later (i guess they don't want to talk to me on the phone). All she told me in the email is that they are just waiting for my VIN to match my configuration. Can take the estimated 2 weeks and "occasionally" can take longer than that. Tomorrow its going to be a full two weeks now.

Consistently texting or calling me with updates including today based on intel from his manager that a 'bunch of cars' are arriving next week so I should get my M3 MSM LR AWD 19" late next week. Placed order on 8/11 so looking at ~3.5 weeks if that prediction is accurate. I have been a bit inpatient so he even offered a loaner M3 for a couple days since I have had to wait.

Must have had it in stock. I ordered a red/black Performance on 8/12 and still don’t have a VIN. My NEMA 14-50 got installed yesterday though.
