Unfortunate position!? Having had 3 years worth of Tesla fun is not being in an "unfortunate position".if I was in the unfortunate position to have a 3 year old Tesla....
Have we heard of any cars failing their first MOT?Kwik Fit do MOT's and given that Tesla recommend them for puncture repairs, I think if I was in the unfortunate position to have a 3 year old Tesla, I'd probably go there.
I'll let you know next week mine has rear suspension that sounds like a squeaky old bed/clown car. Tesla have booked it in to fix it 4 times now but the parts keep not arriving as expected, so it gets re booked....Have we heard of any cars failing their first MOT?
Had three MOTs in a bigger, heavier and arguably more complex MX and never had a problem. Just make sure your tyres are good, the wipers wipe (well it is a Tesla ) and for krise sakes don’t take it to effin KwikFit.Have we heard of any cars failing their first MOT?
Avoid. Run. Don’t please for the love of god.Kwik Fit do MOT's and given that Tesla recommend them for puncture repairs, I think if I was in the unfortunate position to have a 3 year old Tesla, I'd probably go there.
Cleevely charged me £90 for a 4 wheel alignment check, despite the fact you can't do a 4 wheel alignment on a Model 3. Not impressed.Highly recommend Cleevley EV. They are based in Cheltenham so I had to drive an hour and a half each way but they specialise in EVs so know what they are doing. You can email them for a quote, I also got mine serviced at the same time.
They have a place to work and Wifi so I just worked there for a morning. Passed with advisories for tyre tread levels.
Same for me with National Tyres in Urmston (see post #7 above), plus offered MOT's at 50% discount if booked online.I took my Model S to National Tyres Stockport for its MOTs 2 years running. The folks there were great and interested in the various warnings of death and injury I provided them from the manual.
It passed both times. Flying colours on emissions .
Hi I'm interested to know who else may do a better job in the area? I'm 40mins from Cheltenham near Bourton on the Water and grateful for any recommendations for my Model 3's first MOT coming up end Sept. if Cleevely getting mixed reactions. Anyone better out there, agree with avoiding a chain if I can.Cleevely charged me £90 for a 4 wheel alignment check, despite the fact you can't do a 4 wheel alignment on a Model 3. Not impressed.
tesla charged me 360 as car was in sc for services and "it was out of the warranty because it's more than 100 miles/24 hrs" although car was pulling right all timeCleevely charged me £90 for a 4 wheel alignment check, despite the fact you can't do a 4 wheel alignment on a Model 3. Not impressed.
A lot of places that see decent volumes of Teslas (eg tyre shops) now have Tesla pucks.I printed out the MOT guide I found in another thread and left my jacking pucks in the car, but they must have had their own.
Yes, I used my nearest HEVRA garage, partly because I could be sure it wasn't their first EV, and hopefully also not their first Model 3, and also so I could get a sense of how well they could do other jobs that I would otherwise go to Tesla for (three times further). Cotly Garage in Blairgowrie did a good job (as far as I could tell), and I got my MOT without extra cost.I took my Model S for the first MOT in my care to a HEVRA garage that also did MOTs and that could do van class or above as that meant they had a good big lift. For the Model 3 I'd just choose your nearest HEVRA garage that offer MOTs or that can sort an MOT for you with a suitable garage.
Other EVs don't quite have the quirks of the Tesla so I'd think any normal MOT Place would be fine. There's also the council run ones that don't do repairs as well.
I'd rather the person checking the car over actually knew what they could poke with a screw driver and what they shouldn't.
I took my Model 3 to my local tyre place for a puncture. The guy was clearly terrified of the pucks/lifting issues and more or less said he would do it at my risk. By the time he finished he was happy and confident. Curiously the very next car in line was another Model 3. The owner did not know about the pucks, or thought they must be in the boot somewhere. I explained he needed to buy a set, and lent him (ie the garage) one of mine so his car could be worked on. I got it back later that morning.A lot of places that see decent volumes of Teslas (eg tyre shops) now have Tesla pucks.
Bit different to a few years ago when you’d be greeted with a sideways quizzical look
Yeah. There’s plenty of Tesla now out in the wild. Garages not having a set of matching jack pads isn’t as much of a thing now. I like to think they have been happily fixing Teslas ever since?
