Model 3 is a smaller, simpler and a more affordable electric car. Designed and built as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, it is a critical step in Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Like every Tesla vehicle, Model 3 combines range, performance, safety and technology. Intelligent design maximizes interior space to comfortably fit five adults and all of their gear. The high-efficiency powertrain provides zero to 60 mph acceleration in as little as 5.1 seconds.

Model 3 is designed to achieve the highest safety ratings in every category. Combined with 220* to 310 miles of range and a starting price of $35,000 before incentives, Model 3 is Tesla’s most affordable vehicle yet.

Model 3 is currently in production, and deliveries to employee reservation holders began on July 28, 2017 at the Tesla Factory in Fremont, CA. Reservations for Model 3 first opened on March 31, 2016 and remain available today.

Anyone notice that the cargo space got bumped to 15cuft?

Wish ACC could be ordered separately from the $5k AP or Tesla offer a 30 trial period to test the AP package because I am not sure I require all those other features and how much value it will add to our local highway driving experience. Hopefully there will be memory seat positions in the future.

ACC, Adaptive Cruise Control is only part of the AP package. Tesla did offer a AP 30 day test for Model S owners last year

I think I will skip that $5k upgrade. The bigger battery might be more practical for $4k more.

Maybe we will get a discounted offer to get AP and AEP down the road if we choose not to activate them. :)

Why aftermarket, exactly?
More choices and I've got a good tire shop nearby. For instance, Michelin PS3 tires for $185 each (235/40 - 18 tires) with attractive wheels (~$180 each wheel) is less than $1500 for the whole set - a whole new set of wheels for cheaper than the $1500 price of the 19" wheel 'upgrade' from Tesla.
And a 45mm offset really opens up the possibilities for wheels, if that's possible for the Model 3.

Some possible reasons:

1) Extra rims for snow tires (you know about that one!)

2) The standard aero 18 inch rims are rather ugly and some owners might want to replace or upgrade them.

If the 3 is like the S, the larger rims will be more susceptible to damage and the tires won't wear as well as those on the smaller rims. Those who care about such things will need to consider aftermarket rims.

Not to be picky, but "ACC" is more usually the acronym for Automatic Climate Control.
The more usual Tesla acronym for the adaptive cruise control is TACC for "Traffic Aware Cruise Control."

Just so folks won't get confused...

  • Width: 72.8” (76.1” with mirrors folded)

The figures for width appear to have a typo. One possibility is that they are simply reversed, but I am not sure. For comparison, the Model S is 86.2" wide (77.3" w/mirrors folded). So is the Model 3 just an inch narrower than the S with mirrors folded (77.3" vs. 76.1")? Or is it more like 6" narrower if the Model 3 specs are reversed and the width is 72.8" with mirrors folded? Or something else? The shoulder room and hip room are each about 1.5" less in the Model 3 than in the Model S, so my guess is that the width figure in the Model 3 specs is correct with mirrors folded but incorrect for the full width.

Haha, I missed that. I'm now trying to envision the car getting wider by folding mirrors ;)

So that's probably supposed to be 82,8" unfolded, 76,1" folded. Though I'd prefer 72,8" unfolded, 66,1" folded. ;)

Someone else posted the graphic from the Model 3 spec page on tesla.com. The figures are simply reversed. The width is 76.1" with mirrors, and 72.8" with mirrors folded. So that means the Model 3 is a full 10" narrower than the Model S with the mirrors extended, and 4.5" narrower with the mirrors folded.
I guess I should have looked harder for the diagram!
