Well the HOT lanes can get quite expensive during rush hour. The extra tag fee is basically nothing in comparison. and you still get to go in the HOV only lanes by yourself.

A recent piece in NYTimes about how the HOT lanes in Atlanta have probably been counter-productive:

If you want to have free HOV/HOT lane access in Atlanta Georgia you a required to have an "ALTERNATIVEFUELEDVEHICLE" license plate & they cannot be customized.

Interesting, I actually live & work in an area where I never really touch the highway and probably don't need the HOV lane access. I have a great idea for for a custom tag but I'm not going to share it. Because I don't want anyone to take it since I'm now getting the Model X. If the custom plate I want is taken I may go with the AFV tag.

Um, I'm not sure I'd want a license plate that starts with TS... it has other meanings LOL!!

My Roadster is charged by PV panels from SunPower mounted on my roof. I got vanity plates that are somewhat of a double entendre: SUN PWR
We're limited to 6 characters in Connecticut, but more characters would allow a better spelling if you're into EV + PV as I am.
