Model Y West Coast Waiting Room (April 2021 Orders)

My EDD has been July to August for the last two weeks. Called yesterday, and an SA said that my estimated build date is in August. It's pretty rough not having my own car and having to share one that lacks air conditioning in the current heatwave here in Seattle, so I've started seriously looking at snagging an inventory car. What really sucks is it seems like the price difference I'll have to pay for even a slightly different build is around $3000 since that's how much MY have increased since I placed my order. Oh well, renting a car for a month costs like $1500 at a minimum now and there's no guarantee that I would even get my car a month from now, so not much choice.

I wish I had known sooner that my build date would end up being August so that I could have started watching inventory instead of waiting for a VIN. Everyone at Tesla had said that I'd get it no later than June up until a couple weeks ago. Not only would it have saved me money due to the price increases, but also I've been delaying moving until I have my own car. The current system really sucks.
for an April 6th order, that really sucks!

Was supposed to take delivery today. Was preparing for it all weekend. Even yesterday morning my delivery on my account was set for the 28th. Asked me to sign docs. Signed. Asked me to pay through plaid. Paid. All of a sudden I checked in the evening and it moved to the 30th.

I'm glad I have a VIN and a delivery date. But I'm so upset that my delivery date was changed with no notification or reason. Had to move around my scheduled to accommodate a Monday delivery. Finally allowed myself to get excited after checking yesterday morning. I like to think I'm a pretty understanding dude but this is beyond comprehension. Fine. Delay my delivery for whatever reason. But to hound us to finish paperwork/payment and to not have a say in delivery and then change the delivery date on their own whim while giving no notification to me? That's pretty upsetting.

Anyone else have their delivery date change last minute with no notification?
Maybe they will call you to schedule delivery earlier. My delivery date was scheduled for 6/29 and they called me yesterday morning to see if I wanted to pick yesterday afternoon. Heck ya 😂

I feel ya. I ordered 4/13 and I was told on order that my 3-5 week estimate was accurate and I would receive it "June at the absolute latest". Looking at a late July delivery now but not terribly confident.

I have put my order on hold since I am traveling next 10 days. At this point I am just about done with Tesla. I'll release the hold once I return, but unless there is a miracle and I get a new VIN within a week or two, I am ready to move on.

It was fun hanging out with you guys, and congrats to everyone who got their car.
I certainly don’t blame you, and I’m honestly right there with you!

Just got our car delivered. “But muh panel gapz” look great and the overall build quality is great. Much improved from our 2018 M3. Everything feels really solid - from the “thunk” of the doors closing to the feel of the glovebox, just solid. VIN 214***

No mud flaps, but has PPF on the rear doors.

Still not sure why I had to buy the car I ordered from inventory, but … just glad it’s here.

MYLR Black/Black no tow no FSD, Ordered 4/18 profile completion around 1st week of May, been waiting annnnnd….boom! Just received the “final payment” email an hour ago, got my VIN and EDD 6/29 - 6/30! I suppose they’re doing this in batches now to meet the EOQ rush cuz just saw other folks on this forum getting it too. So excited! Can’t wait!

a couple of questions tho, appreciate any takeaway:

- Tesla insurance vs others? Ive heard some good things about tesla insurance and their roadside assistance, but the quote is slightly higher so I’m just giving it more thoughts

- payment before delivery? Ive read other people wait until they see their car to submit the entire payment. Same concern here but I don’t know if that would cause any delay?

- home charging: still haven’t got my home charger since I didn’t believe that it’ll be here before next quarter. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with installing home charger and any recommended electrician in OC area?

thanks!!!
Update:

uploaded insurance this morning.

Called Tesla sales team at Newport Beach today, was told that my car was still up north just out of factory and probably needed another day to get here. VIN 219***.

got a call from Costa Mesa delivery team and a text later confirming the home delivery tomorrow.

account page now shows “delivery timeframe 9-6”

then got an email asking me to sign agreement, which is the CVRP rebate agreement.

hope this is going to be it!

I got a VIN assigned Friday with delivery scheduled for 6/28 (today) then my VIN changed yesterday and the delivery date went to 6/29. I bet the car didn't pass quality control or something so they gave me a different one. Only notification I got was an email saying my agreement needed to be signed (since the financing had a new VIN now). Pretty frustrating they don't just tell you what happened.

You and me brother
Yessir! I received a text at 3:27 p.m. to confirm delivery for June 30 and replied CONFIRM at 3:32 p.m. I went from my EDD saying 6-10 weeks this morning to getting the magic blue button at 11:41 a.m. to entering final payment info through plaid at 3:54 p.m.

Everything happened so quick! I had a chance to provide my info to my insurance to work out a revised premium which only went up by $30 dollars a month. FINAL STRETCH NOW! I hope I get rewarded for waiting in the form of a pristine car!

#Team Black… I felt rewarded when I picked up yesterday. The delivery specialist told me that Tesla just added the heated steering wheel to these latest MY. I was pretty excited because that’s a feature I’ve really liked on my previous vehicles.

At this point Tesla production is moving way too fast for SA's let alone Delivery centers to process information. I was told by my SA that I had to wait three weeks. Then I speak to a different SA and she says follow your EDD. I called the delivery center @Marina del Rey and they say I should have my vehicle no later than July 14th. The point I'm elaborately trying to make is that it is VERY NORMAL. Deliveries are moving extremely fast, so long as you have a scheduled date and VIN you should be okay. Some people out in the Bay Area have their car built and delivered in one day!!!

Nice! Although I believe this feature has been on Tesla since Mid January 2021! Nevertheless, it's still awesome that you have the ability to pickup. Mine is getting dropped off so it'll feel odd seeing my new car in the driveway!
