Musk Says Final Cybertruck Design ‘Looking Good’

It sounds like the final design of the Tesla Cybertruck is getting close.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Twitter that he had just visited the design studio and thought the highly-anticipated vehicle is “looking good.”

Production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin at the end of this year at the company’s Texas factory, currently under construction. Wide delivery of the truck is expected to begin in 2022.

The Cybertruck will be one of the wildest vehicles on the road. The angular, raw metal exterior makes it an obvious standout, but the performance benefits of an all-electric vehicle should also help the truck prove itself as a worker.

Musk said in November an updated design for the Cybertruck would come in “a month or so.”

Tesla has been giving consideration to the Cybertruck’s hulking proportions, which could prevent the wildly-styled, bulletproof, pickup from fitting into the average suburban garage.

Musk said recently on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that the final version of the Cybertruck would shrink by about 3% in its final form.

The electric pickup market is shaping up as Tesla gets closer to production for the Cybertruck. Rivian’s R1T will start deliveries this year and the largest pickup manufacturers like GM and Ford.

There is nothing more strange as haters coming to Tesla fan site to poop on enthusiasm and positive outlook on Tesla future.

I will get mine in 2022. Very positive thought. I actually believe it. So enthusiastic as well. The spreadsheet which means absolutely nothing shows me in the first couple hundred. I also haven't looked in a long while. As I really don't care till my solar gets in so I can power the beast.

I hope you do and let us know how awesome it is.

Don’t know about others, I knew that I won’t see Cybertruck before 23. Which works with my plan on buying it in 23-24 since our 3 will be at the end of the 4 year warranty in 23. Also as Y was Important strategic move for Tesla I believe Cybertruck is next strategic move to capture more market share from ice producers. And then Semi.
I have to admit, the Model 3 and Model Y had me fooled into thinking they’d licked their production delays for some time.
All pre-pandemic prognostications should be adjusted accordingly.

While it’s easy to blame the plague, I think this is squarely on Tesla‘s overly optimistic 4680 timelines.

Heck… lots of optimistic timelines on Tesla’s part. They had 2 years to:
  • acquire land and get permits to build (They finished in July of 2020… leaving 18 months to:
  • build a massive factory (The Cybertruck side is only just getting finished up)
  • Install at least 4 giant casting machines (They have….. 3? On site now?)
  • Install 2 complete vehicle assembly lines
  • Take a new battery design from the lab to production… that’s a 2-5 year project by itself
  • Build a battery factory once they’ve gotten battery production figured out
  • Source large quantities of fairly unique stainless steel
  • Figure out all new manufacturing techniques to shape that SS.
  • Complete the design of the truck, verify it can be manufactured in volume, and test that truck
Tesla was hugely optimistic on timelines. With the battery delays, the rest of the time lines didn’t have as much pressure, but with so many tight timelines, something was bound to go wrong.

If you are in the first hundred, it’s possible.

I wonder if the casinos have set odds for when the first 100 Cybertrucks have been delivered.

Is it true they shortened the version for production? First I heard they did, then they changed their minds, then I read they did. I won’t be able to get it if they don’t shorten it.
I don’t think anyone outside Tesla knows.

Have you considered modifying your garage? I can think of a few ways to make it work. (Kidding… mostly)

If you drive it into the garage fast enough, relativistic distortion will shorten it enough that your new Cybertruck will in fact fit, able to close the garage door behind it. Briefly.
Curiously, you as driver will be annoyed that - from your perspective - the garage will appear much too short at the same time, back hanging out past the open garage door. Briefly.
Alas, your wife will be rather annoyed at the nuclear-scale explosion occurring nanoseconds later as the vehicle fails to stop in time vs the wall.

(Wow, these are really good cookies my son just made...)

you are exactly correct. When they announced the CT prototype to the world, they were ‘’projecting’’ that this truck would have all the bells and whistles and extended range batteries. Of course it didn’t. Until they solve the battery issue it will not even be made.
‘’unless of course Crazy Elon tweets out … range is nit needed anymore Or some BS like that.

Of course what didn't? We still don't know what the production Cybertruck looks like.

Only thing which seems to have been changed officially is adding more bells and whistles, not deleting any.
