My Delivery Experience - Brooklyn 9/27

After reading a bunch of recent threads on this forum about poor deliveries, I was worried about my own. However, mine ended up being excellent.

To start, I got a phone call at 9:00am this morning saying that the Service Center had received my car and they were going to send it in for detailing. They said that I should be able to pick it up any time after 10:30.

I arrived at 11:30 and was immediately greeted by an OA who directed me to the delivery bay. I was then immediately handed off to my delivery specialist (whose name I forget, but he was excellent) who walked me through the car. I received a full briefing of the car, even though I knew most of the information already. He went through all the features including an in-depth tour of the touchscreen.

Throughout the briefing I was inspecting panel gaps, trim, and paint and couldn't find any issues. Maybe some very slight alignment issues on the order of 1mm. To be fair I'm not super anal about this stuff but everything seemed spot-on to me.

Next I signed all the paperwork and received my temporary registration which all took about 15 minutes. From there I was told I was free to go but I could stick around for a while to take photos and adjust the car if I wanted.

It took about 45 minutes from when I entered the building to when I was driving out the door. The car is perfect and my delivery specialist was enthusiastic and helpful. All in all a great experience.

One interesting point that my DS said was that they only had 13 deliveries scheduled for today (a Thursday). He said that tomorrow they had about 35 scheduled and Saturday they had around 50. So if I had chosen to take delivery one of those days it could have been a much different experience. Based on that I'd recommend to take delivery during the week if at all possible.

And, of course, photos:

Congratulations! The MX looks great!! So glad to hear you have a great delivery experience.

Well... my delivery is set for this Saturday at the Fremont factory delivery hub. I imagine it will be a madhouse. Anyway, I can't believe we go through so much emotional roller coaster for a car. Perhaps that's why we're on this forum. For the support and to share in everyone's experiences.

Have fun with your MX!

That is a gorgeous car! Congratulations! :D:D:D

My experience was almost flawless as well. No issues on my X (I'm also not one to be too hung up on the nit-pick details; I just enjoy the ride) and we felt ZERO rushing, even though there was an ocean of M3's being delivered that day too. Our's was delivered at one of the more notoriously busy Southern California locations - Costa Mesa.

So, for those that are waiting, just remember, there are LOTS of good deliveries that happen. Some of us even post about them.

Would you mind taking some photos of your fwd chrome trim to rear hatch trim for me? I have the exact same configuration and as you read, very different results. It’s laughable seeing yours that Tesla is trying to tell me that my trim is normal. (It’s literally pulling out of its channel).

Photos of yours would really help for comparison.

Thanks everyone!

I just had to garage it for a week since I'm traveling out of the country today... it was really tough to drive such a great car for only a couple of hours then give it up for a week! I'll certainly take more detailed pics for you when I get back.
